I would not presume that this is a WiFi issue until you have eliminated other potential problems such as a line fault. The TG582n was a darned good ADSL modem … but lacking 5MHz WiFi. 5MHz is not always as good as it might be - it can be faster but the coverage range is much less than 2.4MHz

I have been a Plusnet customer (Unlimited Fibre Extra) for a long time and still have a Technicolor 582n wireless router connected to my BT Openreach fibre cable modem. This old router now sometimes struggles to cope with the many devices now wirelessly connected to it (e.g. Streaming sticks, phones, computers). I am sure the newer routers are much more powerful and capable, How best can I request an upgrade to my old router?

Thanks

Plusnet's routers are available for purchase, though I would suggest that better are available on the open market.

New routers are offered for the price of P&P on contract renewal.

The old 582 was fine for its time but you should certainly replace it. You could phone for a replacement Hub 2 for the cost of P&P but for an immediate fix you might find a BT HH6 somewhere near you on Gumtree or Ebay, so avoiding the post which is chaotic. Mine cost £15 a couple of years ago, setup easily per instructions on this forum, and it's great.
