National Lottery Website.

Is anyone having problems accessing the National Lottery website through Plusnet?
I know the NL site was having problems last weekend but I think that is sorted now.
I can access it on my iPad using the 4G network but not using the wireless connection through the router to the P/N network.
It's the same on all my PC's either wired or wireless.
All other websites work ok & I have rebooted the router several times with no avail.
My IP address is showing as in the UK as well.
I rang the NL & they say it could be an isp problem blocking the site?
Any thoughts please?

Re: National Lottery Website.

Thanks for the replies, just can't get it to work here. On P/N fibre unlimited.
No other website is affected including my bank login.
As I say, I have rebooted the router several times but something must be blocking it?
Have even changed my DNS servers with no avail.
Also tried different browsers.

I've never turned it on.
This is the traceroute results to the NL site, not pretty!

Re: National Lottery Website.

What are the first three numbers of your IP address?  The NL website isn't available to IP ranges that are reported as being outside the UK and some of PN's ranges were previously used by non-UK companies.
See http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,130918.0.html
Dropping your connection and re-establishing may give you a different address that then works.

Re: National Lottery Website.

something is adrift with the site dns going to https://www.national-lottery.co.uk/ works but a tracert to that site gives

C:\Users\Jim>tracert www.national-lottery.co.uk
Tracing route to www.lb.national-lottery.co.uk [194.246.78.103]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
  1    <1 ms    <1 ms    <1 ms  home.gateway.home.gateway [192.168.1.254]
  2    12 ms    12 ms    11 ms  lo0.10.Central10.ptn-bng02.plus.net [195.166.130
.190]
  3    12 ms    12 ms    12 ms  irb.10.PTW-CR01.plus.net [84.93.249.1]
  4    12 ms    12 ms    12 ms  linx-ge7-0-oscar.lon.router.colt.net [195.66.224
.49]
  5    *        *        *    Request timed out.
  6    *        *        *    Request timed out.
But trying www.lb.national-lottery.co.uk gives "The Connection Reset" and fails

Re: National Lottery Website.

@dmpitts could be on the right track.
National Lottery is a gambling site. Somewhere on your system access to gambling sites may be being denied.
If the problem affects all devices then you need to look at the router. is there an ant-gambling option that's been turned on ? Is your DNS acting as a filter, OpenDNS is good at this.
You also need to check the PlusNet firewall & Safeguard settings, these setting seem to change with or without your input.....................

Re: National Lottery Website.

@pwatson, my ip address is 143.159.xxx.xxx. I have disconnected & reconnected the router several times but I always get an ip address in the same range, 143.159 etc.
Had better point out that am using a TP Link 3600 fibre router & not a P/N one.
@Champnet, I haven't changed any router settings, not sure if there is a anti gambling option or not? I was using Google DNS & have changed back to the default P/N ones, it has made no difference.
As I already mentioned my safeguard isn't turned on, haven't checked the P/N firewall though.
Also I can access Bet 365 on my connection, another gambling site which probably eliminates any gambling site problems.
Edit, just checked & my P/N firewall is off.

Re: National Lottery Website.

Glad it's not just me.
Not been able to access it for years. I even opened a support ticket which said there was nothing wrong on PN's side so it was probably the NL website's host.
No idea. I just use my iphone with Wifi turned off when I need to go on that website.
But you'rte not mad, it definitely is an issue (for a small number of us).

Re: National Lottery Website.

I just managed to get the NL to work once, but it wasn't a proper rendered web page, mainly in text format.
Another traceroute using Windows CMD.
Stalls at hop 9, telehouse.ukcore.bt.net?
Routes to 2 other similar sites which work!
