Keep eye open for it happening again and noting the time of when it was spotted and when the next disconnection is so we can map back.

assuming this thread is kept up to date then the last event was the 19th Feb as per my last post.
Info Feb 19 17:02:28 CONFIGURATION mbus igd sync successfull
Info Feb 19 17:02:25 CONFIGURATION mbus atomic sync successful
Info Feb 19 16:58:19 CONFIGURATION mbus igd sync successfull
Info Feb 19 16:58:16 CONFIGURATION mbus atomic sync successful
These log statements would have occurred when the wifi was turned off and on using the button.
Agree with jelv routerstats should also be used to monitor the line

You sure did
& well predicted too
Looks like the original DNS Resolver was not recovering properly
Now I am using OpenDNS everything auto recovered
Now need to find out what is triggering the XDSL Failure
@Jelv
Router stats has never been mentioned as a tool to aid this situation, therefore had never been run for it.
However I do have an alternative to Router stats that I can use Called dslstats which has recently been updated
Plus I could also hook up a TP-Link Whitebox (was holding out on connecting it up due to known issue(s) )
@Kelly
Yes your right we did confirm the correlation of the that time with the action of (rebooting the router deliberately)
Again @Dandroid
To clarify & confirm
The mbus igd & atomic Configuration is triggered by the WiFi button when I had to manually switch it OFF / ON to restore connectivity ?

As a test I pressed the wifi button on the router does cause those entries in the log.
dslstats and routerstats are similar.
At a guess your 3db profile might be a bit optimistic for a longish line, 6db might be more stable.

That defo explains the mbus entries (which are nothing to be concerned about)
I have the latest version of dslstats running
I would like to continue with 3db atm as I want to keep clarity whilst troubleshooting (May consider changing at a latter stage)

dslstats is fine - I'd be interested in a sudden change of noise margin or a jump in the number of errors logged around the time of a xDSL linestate down.

One way to see if this is the precursor to the dns issue is to install one of your unmodified tg units, and then manually lose sync by pulling out the rj11. Put it back in and see if the resolver has recovered. I personally dont think this is the issue, I feel its corruption of the dns routing tables caused by poor or badly written overcomplicated firmware. Clutching at straws here but maybe its something similar to a stack overflow? ????

Apart from me being on FTTC of course.
Maybe kelly can confirm with a graph etc.

ping 212.159.6.9
Or ping any external Internet IP address of your choice. If that fails, DNS is not the problem, and there's no point proceeding to run nslookup.
nslookup www.plus.net 192.168.1.254
nslookup www.plus.net 212.159.6.9
The nslookup command can then be used to see if different DNS servers reply or not.

Quote from: 11110_110 I think i've mentioned this before, so i'll just post a few lines to show you that my router-dns forwarder has failed. This is dependant mostly on heavy usage in the evevings, but it can happen at anytime.
It's just out of intrest that i'm posting this on your thread of course. As i've said before, this is also the reason i use a seperate dns-cache forwarder because of router failure to forward 100%.
192.168.0.15 Shares the load running Unbound, but we still feel a bog-down when the router fails as shown in the test below. So without the dns-cache in place, we would be left waiting for the router to recover with no internet resolution at all. I've got upnp disabled by the way, still does the same either way.

This time no noticeable signs on Ethernet connected Laptop & all WiFi connected devices show no signs of dropped connection
No sign of XDSL this time
