Plusnet Picked as Best Broadband for Students by WebUser

September 30th, 2008 14:53 by Chris Parr

Plusnet Broadband voted best for students

WebUser has voted Plusnet the best broadband deal for students. The popular fortnightly magazine noted that students would benefit from our short contract period and the free overnight usage on Plusnet’s Broadband Your Way Option 2.

That means that you’ll be able to finish that last minute assignment without worrying about reaching your usage allowance at 4am.

We were also recommended as offering some of the best deals for gamers, users on a budget and Mac users - for BBYW Pro, Essential and our technical support.

Picking out some of the best broadband deals for different types of user, the article makes mention of our fantastic results at the uSwitch awards.

The latest issue of WebUser magazine is on sale now.
Issue 197, out Thursday 25 September 2008

End of Day - 10th October

October 10th, 2008 at 06:55 pm by Dave Tomlinson

Ah Fridays, the end of the working week and the beginning of the weekend. I think Fridays must do something to your brain, there was something I was going to talk about in the pre-amble to the EoD but I’ve completely forgotten what it was. One of those thoughts that I often have on the way to work but never think to write down so when it comes to remembering it, it’s completely gone out of my head. Maybe it will come to me by the time I get to the end of the post. More…

News for Plusnet Webmasters

October 10th, 2008 at 05:35 pm by Ian Wild

Plusnet pioneered the bundling of quality, free, value add services some years ago. One of the most popular services at that time was our advanced web hosting platform (known as CGI). However, development of the CGI Platform has been limited in recent times and we’ve been considering the future of the service for a while.

We’re now announcing plans for a major update to our advanced hosting products (including CGI and Frontpage), which will take place during the first half of 2009.  This will see us offering access to a new platform (based on the one used by our sister brand PAYH). This news will impact all users of the current CGI service and details of a preview available now to all customers is available below.

Spotify has landed

October 7th, 2008 at 04:52 pm by Ian Wild

Today saw the official launch of the world’s newest on-line music service, Spotify.

Spotify Logo

Described by some as “Bittorrent-meets-Last.fm”, or by Spotify themselves as:

An innovative digital music service offering music fans instant access to a world of music. Spotify enables on-demand streaming of audio content and aim to combat music piracy by offering a superior user experience, while monetising licensed content with both an ad-supported, free-to-the-user model and a premium, paid model. Spotify brings fans closer to the music and artists they love, and provides a marketplace for additional products such as live events, music downloads and more.

We reckon Spotify is pretty interesting eitherway. More…
