Postal Strike: update

October 28th, 2009 at 05:20 pm by Andrew B

866553_1b7f8b32This is a quick update to the blog published last week about the Postal Strikes currently affecting customers in the UK.

An announcement is due later today but it’s looking like strike action is set to resume tomorrow.

Once again, we’ll be using ParcelForce to deliver hardware during the strike so delays should be avoided.

You can read more about the strikes and what will happen over on the BBC News site.

If any of our plans change, or the strikes are cancelled, we’ll update this blog to let you know.

Our new products offer our customers a greatly increased usage allowance as well as the potential for much higher speeds.

October 21st, 2009 at 05:03 pm by Bob Pullen

ERX-1440We’re a bit late announcing the news however we lit the final segment of the inventively named ‘Plusnet 14′ on Monday. For those that don’t know, Plusnet 14 is our most recently installed 622Mbps pipe of central capacity.

That’s two whole 622Mbps pipes we’ve lit since July! :)

Those that have been suffering from the recent peak time speed problems will be pleased to hear that we’re not going to stop there either! We’ve more capacity scheduled to be lit next week too! More…

Worried about the Postal Strike?

October 21st, 2009 at 01:27 pm by Andrew B

866553_1b7f8b32If you’ve seen the news at all recently then you’ll already know about the postal strikes that are planned for Thursday and Friday this week.

We use Royal Mail to deliver hardware to our customers, so to avoid the chance of delays we’ve decided to switch to ParcelForce while the strikes are in effect.  Deliveries won’t need to be signed for so it should be business as usual.

You can read more about the strikes and what will happen over on the BBC News site.

If any of our plans change, or the strikes are cancelled, we’ll update this blog to let you know.

What you need to know to watch the England match

October 8th, 2009 at 01:09 pm by Chris Parr

On Saturday 10th October, the England football team are playing their penultimate qualifier in the Ukraine.

It will be the first time in recent history that an England qualifying match hasn’t been shown live on a ‘normal’ TV channel.

This event and the potential number of people streaming this are going to put pressure across the UK broadband networks. This could cause slower than expected speeds for everybody using the internet, including our customers.
