Thanks to swift response from F9 and BT, a noisy line has now been fixed.
How long will it be before my connection speeds up again?
speedtester.bt.com is reporting
Assured Rate IP profile on your line is - 750 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 449 kbps
The BT engineer was getting speeds of 2.9 meg on his kit, and my router is reporting
DSL Status: Up
DSL Modulation Mode: GDMT
DSL Path Mode: INTERLEAVED
Downstream Rate: 6144 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 13 db
Upstream Margin: 23 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 38
Upstream Line Attenuation: 20
Downstream Transmit Power: 0
Upstream Transmit Power: 0
Does my profile have to be reset?

It's likely that the speeds will increase naturally due to the nature of MaxDSL. As long as you sync at that same speed for 3 days it will increase to a profile of 5000 as per the table on this page.
