I am logged in to the portal and the forums.
I set the stay logged in option when I logged in
I can access my profile fine so I know I am logged in.
I see Logout at the top.

If I click on the Community logo and go to the front page:

I see Login at the top instead of logout
When I click on an add comment it says I must be logged in to add one

huh?

Hi Peter,

I used to get this.  Do you get it in a different browser?  I believe that it is cookie related.

Get the same with FF2 and IE7. Don't have another browser to try at the moment.

Never logged in to community forum on IE7 before so this will have created a new cookie.

Tried logging in again from the community home page, go to the forum again but clicking the community logo I get the same issue.

I assume you've tried refreshing your browser on the front page to check it's not cached? I usually get that when I log in using Opera...

Other than that, I'm not seeing the problem here Sad

Refreshing makes no difference.

I am using the portal auto-login if that makes any difference. So I'm auto logged in on the portal and auto-logged in on the forums. Although logging off/on the forums again makes no difference.

Does the community forum use its own cookie or does it add to an existing one?  When I get a chance I'll delete all the PN cookies and try again to see if that makes a difference.

I get the same thing (using Opera as my browser).  Once I'm back at the Community page (and showing "Login" opportunity) as soon as I click on "Forums" I show as logged in again.

We have definitely seen this before Sad.  If you log out from the forums page, then login again, does it go away?

If not, try deleting any cookies for community.plus.net you've got and seeing if that helps.

Think Colin mentioned to me earlier he thought that he knew what the problem was but didn't actually say what it was Smiley

So hopefully he's on to it!

I suspect Peter has found a bug.

Sorry, got distracted by other things that needed doing. It looks like that if you create a username with a " " in it, that the Wordpress code strips that and replaces it with a "" so your username is all one word. This has never been noticed before, as noone had tried (and, to be honest, I hadn't thought of trying) to sign up a Username with a space in it.

I shall need to raise a problem tomorrow to stop this happening.

Colin

It's M$'s fault.  It was a long time before I was brave enough to leave a space in a file name and I still tend to play safe by using underscores instead.

Tried logging out and logging in again.  Also tried clearing all cookies on logout then logging in again.  The same fault shows that when you move from Forum to Community page it shows you as not logged in but if I just click on Forum the page shows me still logged in when I get there.

This has now been fixed for me so I assume for others as well, so anyone using a login name with a space can now post comments on the blog postings.

Nice one Colin   Grin

Also when adding a comment, if you see your name shown without the space, just click on your name to get to the wordpress profile page and you can select the format to display the name. To get back to the community site click on view site
