Thanks Oldjim, that's interesting to know.
I've carried out further tests.  The problem occurs in 'standard' and 'administrative' user accounts but is solved if Internet Explorer is 'Run as Administrator'.  Very odd!

Re: KB2898785 - Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11

I just attended a problem on Win 7 using  IE11 64 bit version with latest updates.. which kept on giving errors when ever they  tried to use it,  I tried to re-install IE 11 but my copy was prior to latest  updates so I couldn't run it  Firefox was OK.
I eventually cured the problem by using the ant-malware program ADW Cleaner (free from Internet). Just ran Scan then looked at the reports and then clicked clean.
The problem was due to one of the Trojans found re-directing to non-existent sites and causing IE to fail.
After running ADW Cleaner there were no more problems. 1 happy user.

Re: KB2898785 - Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11

Further tests indicate that the problem only occurs when 'Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode' is ticked under the 'Advanced' tab in 'Internet Options' (see attached) and that this has only been a problem since KB2898785 was installed.
