Action Centre - I got a Red Flag - Turn on Windows Security Service

Message says - Windows could not start the Security Center on Local Computer.  Error message1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.
I found  a forum message somewhere to go to Start Services- Security Centre which was set to Automatic (delayed) so I tried Manual and Automatic, no success.
There is a column  headed Dependencies which I thought might be important but there were no entries to try.
Is this serious and what should I do now, Please?

I would try a System Restore in the first instance.

1. Answer Oldjim's question.
2. Reboot, it might be a "glitch"
3. Don't panic.....

Re: Action Centre - I got a Red Flag - Turn on Windows Security Service

Thanks for your responses. I've now found a second problem with Windows Backup.
Error Code 80070422 - The last backup did not complete successfully. I had two entries one week apart, so I deleted  the last entry, last weeks backup.
That didnt clear the problem, the previous weeks entry is shown but is not accessible, that contains the System Image.
Manage Windows Backup disk space shows message - A Volume Shadow Copy Service component encountered an unexpected error, check the Application event
log for more info (0x80042302).
I use AVG Internet Security and today have downloaded and installed Microsoft Security Essentials.
I'm old and this is now too complicated for me, I shall send for grandson and he should remember where he put my System Repair Disc !!

Re: Action Centre - I got a Red Flag - Turn on Windows Security Service

Complex tools like AVG do indeed turn off the security service as they use their own mechanisms, but should control warnings properly.
If they go wrong the situation you saw can and does happen.
Removing AVG and installing MSE is a sensible move, trust all is now OK in that area - check Security in the Action Centre (in Control Panel).

Job Closed. All is well, Thanks to you all.
My System Repair Disc was retrieved and running that did the job.
