Hi markg140,
Looks like a testing error.  What happens when you test at http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/ ?

This type of thing is usually caused by an out of date version of Java or some kind of browser issue.  If you did the test with another browser with the lastest version of Java no doubt you would find the results consistent with mybroadbandspeed.co.uk .

According to the Speedtest results we can see stored remotely, this test was not conducted using the Plusnet connection. The IP recorded was a third party provider.
Are you connected via VPN at the time of the check?

Re: 42MB Upload, Who's Jealous ?

Unfortunately not.
The test needs to be conducted on a machine, utilising the connection that has a problem. i.e your physical machine at home.
The telephone number entered is to allow the network to load details about your line and to allow it to record the result against your connection records. It validates you are connected to ensure a basic level of information it is testing against the correct line.
In your case, provided your home connection was online at the time of the test, it will have allowed the test to complete.

Some virus scanners have been known to give corrupting results, try disabling yours during the test.

Policy ID: FTTC FTTC
Profile Rate: 2000 37614
Test File Size: 78692680 141498120
File Transfer Average Throughput/Session: 12370.4482421875 50743.8125

That's what Plusnet's support is telling it gets for results too.
Note the 50Mb/s and 12Mb/s for upload.

Doubt this is a mere java problem.

Re: 42MB Upload, Who's Jealous ?

Are you getting these results on a computer that is connected to YOUR FTTC broadband?
or as is suggested above from and alternative location?

Re: 42MB Upload, Who's Jealous ?

The post above was plusnet testing it at 50Mb/s and 12Mb/s up.

I find it unlikely Plusnet would use the wrong testing methods.

Re: 42MB Upload, Who's Jealous ?

That I conducted the test at work.
I was under the impression seen as you enter your telephone number it ran the test to that line without somebody physically having to be there, it seams that assumption was incorrect.
This doesn't deduce from the fact that when Plusnet are testing they obtain 50/12.
