There are a steady number of users asking why their speeds have dropped or are low.
For the community to assists the following information should be posted to the topic you have already started or a new topic started with this information and a full description of the issues being faced.
[list type=decimal]
Router stats - noise margin, speed and attenuation (upstream and downstream) - only available for ADSL not FTTC
If you have a Plusnet supplied Thomson router this link will give them. Alternatively put your router in here for guidance
For the latest router - Technicolor 582n - this explains how to get them. You will need to click on View More against DSL Connection to get the information we need http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/hardware/technicolor-582n-faqs.shtml#lineStats
Result of a BT speedtest http://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com/PerformanceTesterWS/diagnostics.do but only for IP profiles. If you want a full speed check use this http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ and then Further diagnostics for the IP profiles
Current Line Speed from here (note that there doesn't appear to be an accessible equivalent for Madasafish customers)
Checking using the test socket.
This video explains exactly what to do
EDIT - Updated to reflect the even newer new BT Speedtest however it may give a very silly upstream speed result so should only be used for checking the IP profiles
EDIT - link to getting to test socket with one of the new BT VDSL Interstitial faceplate http://www.coolwebhome.co.uk/faceplate/
Thanks to Andrew at TBB
EDIT - link to Plusnet page of typical master sockets https://portal.plus.net/support/broadband/master-socket-guide.shtml

Hi Oldjim
I am a customer of Madasafish....how do I login to the plusnet member centre? It appears you have to have a provider from Plusnet, Force9 or Free-Online?
Thanks

However judging by this http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php?topic=85144.0 there isn't so I will add a note

Thread tidied up and locked as it wasn't the intention that posters would add their problems to it.
