Legacy Premier vs new Premium

« on 09/11/2009, 02:38 »
Just trying to work out how the new Premium package compares to the old Premier I'm still on (which is a fair bit more expensive). I've stuck with Premier due to the more favourable definition of "off peak" (i.e. midnight to 4pm).

How does Premium compare? I know it's an 80GB limit and supposedly unlimited "off peak", but what exactly is the off peak period, and what are the throttling rates for the various protocols at various times during the day?

e.g. as normally illustrated here, but it's not been updated for Premium: http://usergroup.plus.net/090217_pnvcomp2.php

Also, if I was to switch, does it affect things like the fact I've got static IP and I'm on ASDL2+ (thanks to the trial)?

Hi
your answers are here and here Smiley

If you upgrade, you'll keep your current added value services (webspace, static IP...etc) and your broadband product will remain unchanged (ADSL2+)

Thanks all  Smiley. So main downside for me is the 12-8am off peak, but then peak allowance is 80GB.

Forgot about the market area price differences (only in the small print on the advert). Still, I'm in area 3 so £15.99 which is better than £21.52

I'm on Legacy Premier, and the Premium product. Would it be possible for me to try it for a month, and if I don't like it, change back?

I'm sure we could sort that out for you, if you raise a ticket on your account and let me know in here when you've done it we'll pick this up for you.

Hi. For various reasons I wasn't able to do this before now. I have just raised a ticket. I hope that's okay!

Thanks.

Hi,

One of our CSC agents has scheduled this for you, and have noted your request to trial it for a month. Smiley

Im on the lagacy premier product, i was thinking of moving to a new product, but it appears that the headline prices are only for the first three months.
Whats the point in signing up for Plusnet premium at £19.99 per month, when plusnet pro is exactly the same price ( £19.99 per month )

There may be three broadband products, but only two prices ( excluding a limited introductory offer )
Plusnet Value at £11.99 per month
Plusnet Premium at £19.99 per month
and
Plusnet Pro at £19.99 per month
Because of these much higher than advertised prices it seems a little bit like a con, and after a couple of people to whom i recommended  plusnet to ( via word of mouth)  pointed this out to me plusnet are an ISP that i no longer recommend to friends due to the hidden higher charges.
As for recomending plusnet, i did encourage one person to sign up to plusnet via word of mouth (old BBYW package), and after a week or so he told me that his plusnet internet was working,  i helped set up his wifi, and i think hes also got a phone package as well. although it appears that you can no longer claim referals via word of mouth sign ups.

At the moment im looking for a cheaper internet connection, ive been with plusnet for ( at least ) 3 years, switching to the premium or pro packages will only save a couple of quid ( both cost £19.99 each) , and isnt there a change package and you get locked into a contract now ?
Also at the moment i get 240 minutes of broadband phone, this is no longer included in the new packages.

right where do I start

A) I am also on the legacy 240 phone package as that suits me. and also on the new Value

B) when you change over you can keep all the goodies from your old packages, you just have to say it

C) you  can get referral from whatever way you sign up, all that is important is that the new customer say that you referred them

D) all packages are now one month with a 10 day notice period.  The only things that are a year is if you take a new router or house move, they are free after a year, but you have to pay for them is you leave earlier

E) the \premium package has an 80 G limit but throttling, the Pro has 20G  but no throttling

And noting that pricing has tiers depending where you live (blame BT for this). So Premier can actually be £15.99 after the 3 months (£10.99 for the first three), as it is for me because I'm in the right area (and a bit cheaper because I have a referral on my account saving an extra £1).

Sucks for those who are in the wrong postcode, but there you go.
