Whats going on plusnet ? :(

« on 28/10/2009, 21:21 »
Ive had no lag atall on WoW , not in peak times or nutin since ive been with you. Even when all other isps have people d/c all the time. Yet past few days/week at peak times i am now getting lagging, 480 - 500 ms , which is enough to have a horrible delay. So just wondering whats causing this all of a sudden? its not people changin from there crappy isp's to plusnet and ruining it isit? Tongue Just frustrating to get it now, hope its only temp thing...

I've seen other reports across the forums off late. You might want to try capturing the traffic as you're playing to make sure it's being classified correctly. If it isn't then we should be able to sort that out. We made some changes last week but perhaps that wasn't enough Sad

Possibly, it could still be due to influences outside of our control though. Hopefully the Wireshark capture will shed some light on that...

KaotiK,

If you want, you can attach the .pcap file to a post here - I'd be happy to check that you've got the relevant data captured before you send it into PlusNet.

you cant attach PCAP's to posts here you have to use a file sharing website for that or upload it to your web space

I wasn't aware of that - thanks asbo. I should learn to check the attachments dialogue for "allowed file types" before posting! Wink

I'm getting really bad ping times here too. I play Call of Duty 2 - just about every day for the last god knows how many years. I expect my ping to go up and down, but over the last few months its got worse and worse. I especially notice it during peak times. Today its running at around 150 - it should be well under 50. That's mad. And when I'm paying for PlusNet's so called premium gamers package - its damn annoying.

Something is wrong. Not sure where. But I'm convinced its not my end, since I have changed nothing here. And because its so variable depending on time of day. Its as if when all the kiddies come online - it lags. That's not good enough IMO. If I wanted a gaming service that lagged - I may as well go somewhere else and pay a lot less money.

Its also not a speed issue. My reported download speeds are fine - same as upload. So hearing others are having similar problems would lead me to believe that its a PlusNet issue, user wide.

Hi guys,

As per my other replies to other threads, we're hoping that things should be a lot better tonight after some balancing work that we're planning on doing.
