Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2 just discussed the possibility of a hung parliament after the next UK General Election, as a recent poll has shown:

"The Ipsos MORI survey for the Observer, which will cause alarm in Tory ranks and boost Labour's hope of performing a "great escape", puts the Conservatives on 37%, only six points ahead of Labour on 31%. The Liberal Democrats are on 17%.
It is the narrowest gap between the two main parties in any poll since last December and demonstrates that, rather than powering towards a landslide victory, Cameron's party is struggling to capture the number of floating voters it needs to win a decisive mandate.

So assuming this continues and No clear majority - it could be an interesting time with smaller parties, Lib Dems, SNP, Plaid Cymru, Northern Ireland parties, UKIP, Greens getting more influence.

I saw Michael Portillo being interviewed late last night and his view was similar, i.e. a likely hung parliament.

Interestingly he also said that, whoever got in, cutting public expenditure would prove to be impossible and so tax rises were inevitable.
So, not on song with call-me-Dave & Georgie-boy then .....  Lips Sealed

I saw Michael Portillo ...

I think he distanced himself from current shadow cabinet team some time ago - possibly to enhance his marketability as a TV commentator ??

@Strat - you missed it on 5th November ? :-)

Someone said to me recently that everyone in parliament has always had the wrong idea. The only exception was Guy Fawkes and even he got it wrong!
