Well,

Been trying to sort issues . Phone line checked and ok.
Noise from BT telephone power supply.

Just checked download speed withspeedtester.bt, again.

Down load achieved was 1096 Kbps

DSL connection rate 2208 Kbps (downstream) 448 (upstream)
IP profile 1250 ( now dropped from 1500 recently)

Current internet download speed is 135K  with the upstream 232K.

I presume I'm being trottled back or there are contension issues.

I have tried another modem, checked the line, done everything I can from the advice of many people.
Issue is particularly bad in the evening. Speed is 4 x lower than minimum value.

I suppose the next step is raise a ticket and hope PLusnet can sort?

HI

PS.   Router stats much the same except downstream rate is 2208.

Early morning and early afternoon seem reasonable for download speed!!
But will do speedtests at those times just to confirm yet again.

Thanks

If the power supply is buzzing this could be part of the problem.

Did a BT engineer come to your house... If so they usually ( more often than not)  replace the old setup with an NTE5, so they can test....

Have you got an old corded phone to test with, that has no power supply.  If not switch the power supply off, disconnect the phone, and just have the router in, and see what the stats are then..  If you have had some low sync events, then unfortunately the monopoly at BT make you wait 3 days, at a higher sync before they change things.  PN have no control over this.....  In my view, its rediculous, it takes IIRC 75mins to reduce your profile......

Good Moaning,

New NTE5 and I have disconnected power supply so everything seems ok there. Have left phone off totally for a few days, no change.
The engineer did attend and check line.

Stats this morning at 07:30

Speedtester bt --- same as last night. Acceptable?

But Download speed 1277K, upload  380K. Thats about ten times faster this morning.

Will check when I get home this afternoon.

Thanks everyone.  Smiley

Hi all

Have checked router by substitution -   same stats as previous.

Bt speed tester gives consistant results no matter the time of day. Bypasses the isp?
eg. download 1076 Kbps;  max achievable 2000 Kbps;  dsl connection rate 1600 Kbps(downstream);  448 Kbps(up stream); IP profile 1250 (this has changed from 1500 a few weeks ago.

BUT actual download speed approx 172 Kbps or less from a couple of different sites. I believe this happens only In the evenings.
In the day or early morning it has been approx 1300 Kbps.

What next?
Raise a ticket?

Regards

Hi there,

Is 172 your *throughput* on the BT speedtester? If so we need to check that out as a fault.

Hi

The BT speed test is usually fine.

The problem is that actual surfing and internet access is at 173 Kbps  or there abouts, particularly in the evening.

Tonight is OK Undecided. Using Plusnet speed test it was 1200 Kbps. If my sync rate remains 2300 Kbps I understand that my profile will go up again, we shall see!

Have been experiencing drop outs and my sync connection rate at the router changes from around 2300 Kbps and goes down. It was at 1600 yesterday after aprox 4 days.
Rebooted and now at 2300 ish again.
Reset logs on router to see if I can identify anything that might cause problems.  I have all but eliminated local problems as previous posts.
No internal wiring from NTE5, just router and telephone.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

That's what your BT IP Profile is currently set to.
