Ubuntu: Configure Send To...

« on 16/10/2009, 12:25 »
Is it possible to configure the right-click send to.... menu in Ubuntu?
Mine is currently send as..... Evolution although I use Thunderbird. Would also like to send to other locations as an alternative to drag and drop.
Would like it to perform a bit more Windows-ish but can't find out if it is possible.
Anyone know anything about it please?

AIUI the Send To.. menu functionality comes from the nautilus-sendto package. Its functionality can be extended through its plugin system (you'll probably find plugins for Evolution and Pidgin in /usr/lib/nautilus-sendto/plugins) but unlike the equivalent function on xfce4 I don't think it can be user-configured through text files.

Is Evolution still set as the default Mail Reader under System -> Preferences -> Preferred Applications? If it is, change it to Thunderbird and you may find that nautilus-sendto will use it rather than Evolution.

There is some added functionality in in nautilus-sendto in Ubuntu 9.10

Thanks for the reply Waldo. I did read up about it and it seems that there is a difference between Thunar and Nautilus.
Will leave it for now as drag and drop is OK - it is just Windows habit to use the Send To....menu.
