+Net, IWF and blocking legitimate sites

« on 02/10/2009, 22:22 »
Just tried to follow a link to www.zshare.net in order to download an audio file that someone had posted there of his own work.

Instead, I get what you see in the attached image.

Look at the bottom line of text. If you can't read it, it says:

Generated Fri, 02 Oct 2009 21:11:44 GMT by pcl-iwfcache02.plus.net (squid)

Is this the dreaded incomptent nanny at the Internet Watch Foundation stopping me from getting to a perfectly legit site once again, and +Net meekly going along with their blacklisting?

Can we have a comment on this from someone with authority at +Net as to how closely they monitor the IWF's lists for such idiocies? And can www.zshare.net please be unblocked?

Something definitely screwey.

Querying the PN nameservers gives a timeout.  Querying openDNS servers does not.

Raise a ticket.  It's certainly not the standard IWF blocklist error, and is pointing to something awry with the network.

Meanwhile, you may be able to access it using:  http://216.155.135.201/

Thanks for the alternative route, Barry.

The proper url seems to be accessible now, though.

Just to add a tip here..

If your router supports it, set it to use both plusnets DNS AND openDNS servers. I used to see that same page when just using PNs DNS servers but since setting my router to use auto-discovered AND opendns I've not had any problems.
