sunday night .., speedtests are fine but browsing is very very sluggish, images are taking ages to load if at all (even small ones like avatars)

Having the exact same problems here PaulH.  Even small images are not loading, and numerous websites are timing out or taking an age to load.

Mine seems fine, pages loading at a reasonable rate (while downloading a couple of files at the same time).
My current profile is a bit low for other reasons so maybe I don't see as much effect from any slowdown but I really don't see any slowdown this evening.
Possibly points to it being gateway dependant (I'm on thn-ag2 and 21CN) if that helps.

Hi guys,

There's been some more changes made this morning (specifically across the central routing) which should free things up some, more detail at http://status.plus.net. Following this we should be able to make some changes to the rules which should ease up on the Akamai hosted images, but we need to check the impact of this morning's changes first. There'll be an update following as soon as I get more info.

In case you haven't seen my post in a different thread:

We've made some additional changes to the network config today, all being well you should be seeing improved performance this evening. We know there is still more to do and really do appreciate your patience whilst we get this sorted.

This is bloody ridiculous.  Getting constant timeouts and pages literally taking minutes to open tonight.  It makes me wonder just what we're paying you money for, because as of now the internet is pretty much useless.

Did PN actually do the "Planned Network Maintenance" this afternoon ?,  as the pattern of poor speeds is the same as every other day for the last couple of weeks !

Looking at the current  packet drops for each gateway suggests that whatever they did hasn't helped.

hmmm 12 seconds to load the index page for ebay , 8 for a basic login page for a bank , 25 seconds for national express  (12 when cached)

speedtests are about 5000kbps  but it's noticeable how slowly the dial climbs to get there ...

ps loading this page to do this edit  took about 10 seconds and i could watch all the button gifs painting on screen

Hi all,

We had another segment lit this morning so experience tonight should be better. It's on THN-AG2 for those interested, there should be a service status post shortly.
While lighting a new segment can only result in a very welcome bandwidth improvement for everyone, can somebody from PN suggest what percentage increase in capacity the lighting of a new segment will bring ?

My concern is that for the last year my very stable connection of 6550Kbps only ever dropped by say 15% in peak times.  But for the last two weeks, my connection (along with many others on this forum) is dropping by 95% from our usually expected speed test results.  Therefore lighting one new segment to add to the many that already exist, is not going to resolve whatever the cause of the current problems is !

If anything today is already worse for throughput than yesterday, as it is only midday and my speed has already fallen by 85% from its normal levels.
