Siemens A580 ip registration problem

« on 27/08/2009, 15:52 »
I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction in setting this phone up.

I do think that between plusnet and siemens they have made this so difficult.  From the voip.plus.net portal I have obtained my 7 digit extension number, the sip server (sip2.plus.net), re-entered the password (just to make sure it is the password for voip phone and not the portal), and pressed the SAVE button.

This is what I've been entering:

Authentication Name:  my 7 digit extension number beginning with 4
Authentication password:  as entered on the voip.plus.net website
Username:  my 7 digit extension number beginning with 4
Display name:  anytext

General Provider Data
Domain:  sip2.plus.net
Proxy server address:  sip2.plus.net
Proxy server port:  5060
Registrar server:  sip2.plus.net
Registrar server port:  5060
Registration refresh time:  180sec
Network
STUN enabled:    No
STUN server:
STUN port:  3478
STUN refresh time:  240 sec
NAT refresh time:  20 sec
Outbound proxy mode: Always
Outbound proxy:  nat.plus.net
Outbound proxy port:  5082

On entering the data I press the set button and it always comes up with 'Registration failed'.  I've tried using sip.plus.net and also newsip.plus.net for the Domain, Proxy server and registration server to no avail.

The phone is working fine on fixed line and the gigaset voip, so I'm pretty sure its not a phone issue.

Any help would sure be appreciated.

My only suggestion is try changing the domain to newsip, this is newsip only not newsip.plus.net.

Also change the sip2.plus.net to sip.plus.net and nat.plus.net to natproxy.plus.net.

Hi GreyCut, Welcome to the forums.

Bob's settings are correct. If they dont work then I notice that your account starts with a '4' and so this might be the problem:-
From this thread http://community.plus.net...ex.php/topic,69385.0.html
Quote
you do in fact have a 4 in front of your old 6 digit extension number so please drop the 4 and you'll find that you can connect. We added the 4 to ensure that all of our old extensions, which were on a 6 digit plan could fit into Gradwell's 7 digit extension plan. Kinda meant that at the point of migration to our new platform, back in April, you could continue using your existing extension without any interruption in service. Obviously this hasnt suited everyone and probably caused quite a bit of confusion to be honest!...my bad.
As above just try dropping the 4 and using the last six digits in the Authenication Name & Username fields.

I must admit I thought this was an old issue and had been sorted but maybe not...

Thanks for the replies tried them all and failed, until MisterW post  Grin

Seems it was the 4 in front that has caused the problems.  I must have spent 4 hours today trying to set this phone up so the evil 4 really had it in for me.

Thanks again much appreciated.

Glad I could help!. Out of interest, is your account an existing one migrated from the old platform or is it a recently activated one ?
I thought the problem only applied to old accounts but given that you have only just joined the forums I wondered if it still applies to new accounts.
It would be useful to know so that we can advise other people who may post with similar problems.
Thanks

My account is an original one that was migrated.

I used to post often in the forums some 4-5 years ago but rl and gaming took over.   I didn't even realise the access to the forums had changed from the original plusnet forums, until I tried to post earlier today and realised I needed to register.

Thanks for your help and to everyone that posted.
