internet went down for 20mins

just lost internet for past 20 mins
sync was o.k.
and was picking ip address up o.k all in the 87 range.
just couldn't ping anything on the net
went to fone faults got half way to geting to a human and bang back up and running again

Same here, went down at 1am and came back at about 1:30 - but couldn't access Facebook, Usertools or the Community until a couple of minutes ago. Also, interestingly, looked like most people had been booted off Usertools IRC - did something major happen?

defo people seem to have been kicked or there download traffic has stopped as my pings are pretty decent now before they where shocking

Good spot jnwright, thanks - although if that was the cause, the SS somewhat belies the true extent of the connectivity issues experienced...

(Not on 21CN) During the outage I could get to other places, just not anywhere within PN (Website, Community or Usergroup). Access to IMAP also failed. Downforeveryoneorjustme? also said those URLs were down. Side effect from the maintenance work seems the most likely explanation.

Did anyone check if it was just the Sheffield servers that were not accessible? I'd have expected the DNS servers, ccgi, mybroadbandspeed to all still be working.

spraxyt are you using opendns.
as it seemed those using PN dns were effected alot more than those on opendns

I'm still seeing this problem, can access other sites but PN sites and intermittent. Currently using another connection to post this.

No, but the computer I was on uses the router for DNS (which uses PN). I guess most of the sites tried were ones I'd recently visited, so would be cached.

I'm still having problems accesses PN sites, namely the main portal and these forums. It's not a DNS problem and it's intermittent. Luckily I can use a neighbours WiFi connection and when I do I don't encounter the problem. So in my mind it's a 21CN/gateway problem.
