The HD streams are now live as reported here. The BBC have also increased the bitrate of the non-HD streams.

Except I think in that thread there may be confusion between the HD and the increase in the bit rate for non-HD. I can't stream the HD as the bit rate is higher than my fixed 2Mbps line can support. If I stream the high rate non-HD then this max my connection out nearly 100% of the stream.

Ah, must have missed that Roll Eyes

What's that done to your traffic Bob?

If you're talking about mine personally then 'not much' would be the answer as I've got a line fault Sad If you're talking about traffic across the Plusnet network then I'm sure there'll be a 'Tommo special' on Community before too long Wink

I did know about your line fault Bob Sad so I'll wait for the 'special'.

My PC doesn't seem to be up to playing the HD stream (a 2.8GHz  Pentium 4). The CPU runs at 100% and the image continually stutters. I'm pretty sure my broadband should be ok though.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing this on the PS3. We don't have HD on our telly yet so if they get it working on the PS3 then it will be our first way of watching the BBC HD channel.

nope not a chance of streaming hd on 2500kbps profile and as oldjim said even the HQ standard stream max's 2500kbps out thankfully the streams still play o.k tho

maybe we need every one in the country who's lines are not capable of streaming hd to protest out side the BT tower or refuse to pay there line rental unless the fibre to cab upgrades are speeded up
let's turn the table's and hold bt ransom instead of them holding use between the legs.

To be able to stream HD you need a connection of 3500kbps. So on a fix 2mbps I don't stand a chance. Will download a HD program tonight in the free period to see if my PC is fast enough to play HD.
