More traffic on the line from people on 'Unlimited' is surely going to make the painful PSN & XBL ever worse than it already is?

NO?

more strict rate limits on unlimited at peak times so shouldnt effect the xbl an psn downloads. iam sure pn have it all in hand they wouldnt relese a unlimited usage package that would kill the relable rep of the network.

No. We're planning new capacity in line with customer numbers and the expected experience, along with usage figures. As such we'll be adding bandwidth before customers start to see issues. Tied in with the management at peak times this will mean that existing customers see no issues because of this.

The PSN & XBL issues have improved recently, no?

Just to make things clearer, the actual cost of Broadband Unlimited is from £15.99 (price dependent on location) with a promotional offer of  £11.99 for the first 3 months (irrespective of location).

With the current way of promotion I would take it that that the £11.99 is possible for some people for longer than 3 months as it is not clearly advertised as a promotional price.
If a refusal offends..... Don't ask!
If thar ever offered owt, tek it tha might not want it na but tha cud need it later.

i cant see anything on transactions to see what i have paid for pro rata/fist month on unlimited and the only page that i can tell iam on unlimited is this which gives a price of £20. it was confirmed on the phone i was market 3 at 15.99 normal price.

i hope this is just the way the web page is done and that my transactions history will update with the payment soon.

edit. had call few seconds after posting this confirming all deatils.   Smiley

First impressions are that this new product line-up is a bit of a dog's dinner and is way more complicated than it perhaps could be.

As a new visitor to Plusnet's residential product pages you see the comments about location dependent costing but I'm damned if I can see a link to somewhere that documents exactly what this entails and lets you check what your 'location' is, or even means.

The 18 month restriction in the small print is terrible considering the state of the telecoms market at the moment. For starters I can't see the attraction of the unlimited product if you are looking at moving to ADSL2+ in the 18 month period.

The introduction of an 'Unlimited' product with severe restrictions drops PN to the level of Tiscali, BT and all the other ISPs with advertising driven products.

There are conflicting statements on the product details pages, eg on http://www.plus.net/suppo...ity_broadband/speed.shtml it states "Internet applications not listed below, such as gaming, web surfing or video streaming have no specific restrictions at any time and are prioritised on our network at all times." then goes on to list Gaming in the restrictions table. Also what's the difference between a Download Site and a Download Server then?

That restrictions table is going to be a support nightmare.

Apologies in advance if I missed this but as far as I can see anyone moving to Plusnet will now need to sign up for an 18 month contact.
If this isn't true it needs to be made more clear

The new products are 18 month contracts, except for Plusnet Pro which is a 12 month contract.

Yeuk! Sorry, but that makes PN a whole lot less attractive when comparing to other ISPs.

Also it is not clear what happens if you want to cancel your contract early.

Hi
Just seen this new product. Im on prem op 1 and wondered if it is worth the hassal changing to this new product for the sake of a few pounds as my exchange is up to date with the 21cn changes and maybe i should wait for this to become more stable.  My connection is fine at the moment for XBL and dont  want to affect that .

The line check on signup will provide the pricing info (we can't tell you what price you can have until we know where you are).

That problem should be fixed in the next few minutes.

Also it is not clear what happens if you want to cancel your contract early.

You'd have to pay the subscription fees for the remainder of your contract.
