Big issue for Obama?

« Reply #16 on 18/11/2008, 15:22 »
i recall something similar happening with people and their filo-faxes.  one woman reportedly saying 'my whole life is in there!'

Do you remember that classic scene from 'Only Fools and Horses'?  Del Boy, filo-fax in hand, is in a yuppy bar with Trig when someone lifts the bar flap and he falls through the gap. One of the most humorous moments in TV comedy ever Grin Grin

Yes I remember.

Speaking of Trigger, had a chap come round to replace the fencing (he did a top job) but he looked like, sounded like and had all the mannerisms of Trigger.

He was finishing up work for the day and was going to return tomorrow, he knocked on the door and asked me whether we had a garage (there are no garages at all where I live) to put his railer in overnight.

I had to fight to surpress the urge to laugh as I immediately thought of Trigger as I wondered whether he thought I could press a button and the house would rise up to reveal a garage.

Thanks Bob, well worth watching again but how wrong can you be - not a filo-fax in sight Shocked  He definitely had one when they went into the bar.

There is a 'Fools and Horses' society and each year they hold their AGM in our local sports centre and some of the cast turn up.

I bet poor David Jason is fed up of the catchphrases 'This time next year we'll be millionaires' and 'lovely jubbly'

Bet he soon gets over it when he looks at his bank account Smiley

BTW, before Strat says it, isn't it funny how another thread goes so far off topic.  We start with Obama, go via Brown and end with Del Boy.  At least the last two are comedic Wink

Chances are at some point I'll have to carry a company mobile in addition to my own but I'll never carry a Blackberry as they are just too bulky and I'm not addicted to e-mail or feel out of control when I'm away from a PC.

Indeed I make a point at work of getting away from my PC at lunchtime, going and sitting in our kitchen area and sticking my iPod on (most of colleagues just stay at their desks) to give my eyes a rest and so noone asks me to help them with a tech problem they are trying to resolve for a customer or their home PC  Smiley

Today I received an email from Republican friends in the US.  It appears they are still smarting at losing to Obama and plan to challenge his win. Part of the message reads:

>>> For the electors to uphold the Constitution that they're sworn to do
>>> > >> with
>>> > >>  their upcoming vote, they must first know for sure that the candidates
>>> > >>  meet the basic constitutional requirements for the office of
president.
>> > > He
>>> > >>  must be a natural-born citizen, at least 35 years old, and have at
least
>>> > >>  14 years of residency in these United States. That's not a lot to ask.
>>> > >>  Pretty basic, really.
>>> > >>

They are pressing the electoral College to challenge him on the first point.  It would appear that he has not produced a birth certificate to prove he is a US citizen.  Makes a change from hanging chads in Florida at the last election Smiley Smiley

Whether it was McCain, Obama or whoever, does it really matter, whoever got in they are still in a mess.
