Does anyone else have problems with timeouts on the various BBC site tonight ( and a few other sites as well). I've just re-installed my OS so not sure if its my end or not Paul
Network timeout or a very slow load of pages here at the moment. Traceroute works, giving usual results. BBC webpages work worst after my browser cache is cleared. I've just loaded a page! See the image below. As the page says, it seems they have problems.
Seems ok from here if a little slower than normal. (connection via the Joint Academic Network (JANET), JANET have private peering with the BBC as do PN I believe So could be a router issue if the same one terminates PN's and the one from the :London Internet Exchange (LINX) which most traffic from other ISPs travels over.
as I'm at work at moment so cant check from my PN connection at home.
Word on the street is that they have exceeded their daily traffic allowance and have been throttled. Last time this happened they introduced a contraflow and convoy system. There will be average speed cameras, so beware if you have ADSL2.
