Well its all gone very quiet... I havent had any offline messages since 25/11.
Does this mean Gradwell have fixed it , or have they just disabled the messages!!
Sorry I must be I'm getting cynical in my old age. Roll Eyes

I have had my notification turned off for a while.
I think I will turn it on and see if I get any offline messages now

yes please - turn the messages back on if you have them turned off and let us know if you receive and unusually high amount on a daily basis.

My notifications are working as expected, no odd ones for a couple of weeks.

My last spurious message was on 2nd December but there was something very strange about that one and did not seem to be for my connection at all. The last "proper" one I had was 30th November. Is it too early to start celebrating?

I used to be conceited but now I'm perfect. ;-)

Ok, I knew it , spoke too soon!
Got this one this morning
Quote
The SIP ID 8xxxxx which has been connected since 2008-12-08 11:09:18, went offline at 2008-12-12 05:16:59.
The IP address your account was connected from was 80.xxx.xxx.xxx and identified as SJphone/1.60.289a (SJ Labs).

Now this one is really strange...
I normally have just one phone registered, my C475IP at home. I did briefly run up SjPhone from my office ( and it was probably on the 8th , although I cant remember exactly ) to check how to enter sip addresses using it i.e sip:xxxxxxxx@sip.plus.net.  However SjPhone was only running for about 5 mins, and even if I'd forgotten to close it, my office pc was shut down on the 9th and again last night, and not started until 7:45ish this morning.

So how come I get an offline message for SjPhone this morning , 3 days after SjPhone has unregistered, and from my PlusNet IP , not my office IP ?
Something very strange going on in the offline detection I think!!

That is definitely a spurious one. I had the same. Just when I thought the problem may have been fixed. Here is the one I was sent:-

The SIP ID xxxxxxx which has been connected since 2008-12-02 22:17:11, went offline at 2008-12-12 05:16:58.
The IP address your account was connected from was xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and identified as Zoom 0.5.0.

Having turned notification back on I recieved this message

The SIP ID XXXXXXX which has been connected since 2008-12-11 08:31:02, went offline at 2008-12-12 00:34:08.
The IP address your account was connected from was XX.XXX.XXX.XXX and identified as SJphone/1.65.377a (SJ Labs).

Which was absolutely correct Smiley

@hneil,

As you say, looks suspiciously like a spurious one since yours is almost exactly the same time.
What intrigues me is why, in my case it reports
Quote
identified as SJphone/1.60.289a (SJ Labs).

The last registration the system would have seen before the report MUST have been from my C475IP as that is on permanently and so will reregister every hour. Yet somehow it thinks SjPhone was registered.

Possible interesting point is that the SjPhone registration would have been using the OutBound Proxy ( since behind a NAT gateway in the office ) whereas the C475IP at home is direct to the registrar server using the SIP ALG in my router.

Had an odd one tonight

The SIP ID 7590XXX which has been connected since 2008-12-11 22:37:30, went offline at 2008-12-15 19:35:00.
The IP address your account was connected from was 79.135.125.XXX and identified as X-Lite release 1014k stamp 47051

That's not my IP address and I'm not using X-Lite .

The SIP ID XXXXXXX which has been connected since 2008-12-15 09:14:47, went offline at 2008-12-16 00:12:43.
The IP address your account was connected from was 79.135.125.160 and identified as SJphone/1.65.377a (SJ Labs).
The times shown on this message are correct and I am using SJPhone 1.65.
But what is this IP address? Like adiewoo it is not mine. Is it supposed to be mine?

79.135.125.160 is Gradwell (I had the same on 2nd December - see my post on page 7). I wonder if they are testing something? It would have been nice if they had told us, though.

I'm thinking that this has been fixed now. Can we close this problem off?

I've not had any false positives for a while now, so looking good.

However, before we close it off, I would want to be sure that the it is still working correctly for genuine disconnections.

I'll try to run a test tonight or tomorrow night to see if I get a genuine notification email when I turn my router's sip client off. Then I can report bck with the outcome.

It might be good if other try this too. I think the Sip client has to be off longer than your re-registration interval time otherwise the server won't know you went offline. The other way to do it is turn it off a few minutes before it is due to reregister and make sure it stays off long enough for the mechanism to respond.

As I reported earlier the emails I am getting are accurate and reflect genuine online periods.
In the email should it show my IP address or the gradwell IP adddress 79.135.125.160?
