Photo Competition Thread not showing photo thumbnails consistantly

The photo competition thread seems to be very inconsistant with showing the actual photo thumbnails... Sometimes only one out of three is shown, or just two out of three or none shown at all with just the link to each photo.

Then, if the link is clicked, you are confronted with the Windows dialog to download the actual file - this may be usefull ofc but a bit of a drag if you just want to browse through all the pictures in the Comp!

I can't duplicate this.  Which browser you using?

Have you made sure all the pictures being uploaded fit the rules? They need to be in jpg format and under 4MB each.

On normal jpg attachments you have a thumbnail - if you click that you should get the full size image.

Sometimes it doesn't, instead it offers to download the image.

Edit: Refreshing the page sometimes makes it behave.

Edit 2: Looking further and comparing with posts where it does work the problem is that mouseover the thumbnail isn't working.

Ah, OK that explains the two at the bottom of the topic I linked. But I have seen it on another topic where refreshing the page fixed it. I'll keep an eye out and grab the source when I see that again.

There's definitely a bug in there somewhere.

Ah ha.. thanks all for the replies and excuse me for my non-replies but my computer froze up on Friday evening and I've been fixing it ever since. I am now on my old computer and still experiencing the same problem with the Comp. thumbnails...

I'm using Firefox on W2000 and / or Vista on fully updated computers but the same problem in IE.

I'm just now beginning to suspect that if you don't log in and view the thread from a url bookmark link, just as an anonymous user, then the thumbnails don't show at all - that's what happened just now but I logged in before writing this reply and Voila..! there are the thumbnails..!

Maybe mystery solved...?

Yep!

If you look at them when not logged in, they don't appear!   Shocked

Yep - I just viewed the comp without logging in and all the pics are there. Mystery solved.
