Still a problem here - any news to report about a possible fix - getting really annoying now!

We're in conversations with Kevin at Flickr now. I've actually provided him with a Community Site login so he can contribute to this thread if he likes.

A definite fix isn't in sight yet, but I'm sure we're not far off. The issue may have been happening for weeks but bear in mind the first we knew about it was Friday afternoon before the bank holiday.

I've been having problems for the last two days - I haven't needed to use my account that much recently.  Unlike what everyone else seems to be reporting, it started with me being able to replace photos, then having trouble uploading photos (titles, descriptions & tags wouldn't be displayed after my hard work adding them!) and now finally this afternoon I'm totallly unable to even sign in, I just get error messages about squid.  Because I couldn't log in and I haven't had any further response to my help case from flickr, I had the very bright idea of checking a link I'd seen on a previous occasion to help/forum and low and behold there was a big blue topic called problems with plusnet.   That's my ISP!!!  Having set a very large scene, can I ask what a squid is and when this is likely to resolve?!  Many thanks.

I will be asking someone to post a similar message on the flickr forum tomorrow as they can sign into my account as they're with talktalk.

Squid is a proxy server at plusnet that checks all websites against the iwf blacklist (servers known to contain child pornography) unfortunately the error appears to be another symptom of the problem between plusnet and flickr rather than the cause of the problems.

A quick message to Bob: I believe Kevin @ Flickr was sending you some of my wireshark caputures, if he hasn't i'll send you them directly if you still require them.

Yep, we've received the info (thanks Kevin). It pretty much mirrors the stuff we've already ascertained here.

Presumably the problem wouldn't be occurring if there wasn't content on the IWF list that resides on some the IP's of Flickr's upload servers. (There'd be no need to proxy the traffic via the squid proxies otherwise).

We're investigating the possibility of ascertaining what this content may be so we can link up with Kevin and see if it can be removed. Alternatively there's always the option of 'whitelisting' Flickr's servers, but for obvious reasons that's not our preferred plan.

I'll keep you guys updated throughout the day.

Been checking from the work account using Messagelabs - a different type of filtering - and all okay.

For all the very good work the IWF do , they quite often throw up quite bad anomalies depending on their ICA's view of a sites content.

Just worried that all UK users of Flickr from the affected ISP's will now be seen as potential sex offenders from continually trying to access the site  Angry

Not strictly true, my post was 8-30 am on the Thursday and I had been uploading ok earlier that that week. So:
1) it hasn't been going on for weeks and
2) you had 2 full days before the bank holiday to investigate.

Hope you get it fixed soon

Got caught up in meetings earlier today but I'm about to post a Service Status to acknowledge the existence of this problem (in retrospect should probably have done this before).

Good news is that we should have a short term fix in place by the end of today all being well.
