Uploading to Flickr

OK, we've disabled the IWF proxies and the uploading problem seemed to go away. As we've only seen errors purporting to be from one of the boxes, we're going to see what happens if we just remove that one from service.

So is this fix available across the network because I still can't upload.

Removed that one and the problem still exists. It's very peculiar. Because if you leave the Wireshark capture running after you get the error you can see that the files are all transferred! Huh?

The boxes are back in service AFAIK for the time being. Think we may need to enlist the help of Yahoo to try and see what's happening here with a greater degree of visibility.

Thanks for everybody's patience BTW.

Not working for me either using the ACDSee uploader.
By the way Bob the web based uploader has always worked ok (well for me at least) its just the 'desktop' uploaders

Hi All!

Can I add a few problems that I have been adding.

I use the flickr web uploadr, that works fine but when my photos complete and I add descriptions and tags etc they will not confirm, that one has only happened since this problem occured.

The second one is more related to the issue we are currently having, where I try to replace a photo, again web based and it throws up a 404 error.

Regards, ILMV

In terms of adding issues - as well as the problem with saving changes to sets with over 92 items in it I am also unable to add discussion topic relies or send Flickr mail messages over more than 4 or 5 paragraphs long.

The screen refreshes upon submit and shows as though no message was created - ie your back where you started.

These problems have only occured during the last week.

PS: I assume you know about the official thread on the Flickr Help Forums where Flickr staff member Kevin seems to suggest they are at your disposal (PlusNet staff).

I've been in contact with flickr as well and they have requested numerous wireshark captures from me so they are checking it at their end as well! Glad plusnet are actively in contact with the flickr guys as well! Sky and Virgin Media don't seem to care!

This may or may not be related, but at work (Where I go through a squid proxy - although the connection is nothing to do with PlusNet) I have problems on some Yahoo! pages.

For example their Site Explorer function, if I go to this URL and then try to navigate to the second page of results I get

Code:
The following error was encountered:
    * Read Error
The system returned:
    (54) Connection reset by peer

Which would suggest there are definitely funnies with yahoo! servers and squid.

That seems to be fine on a PlusNet connection.

Any further updates?  My girlfriend is a photographer and has been moaning at me about having to use the web based uploader on Flickr for about 5000 pictures...  Sad

I'm an IT professional and former Sysadmin (plus run my own webserver), so tested out the software first, reinstalling, etc, before finding and reading the Flickr Help section and being directed to here.  If there is any testing I can do to help PlusNet with this (unlikely I'm guessing, but I had to offer), please let me know.

Any further updates?

The last I heard, we were waiting a response from Yahoo. I've just put the network engineer on the case in contact with Kevin at Flickr too so hopefully some good will come of that.

Hello folks, I've read the discussion on the flickr help forum and, well, this is becoming a bit of a dealbreaker for me as far as plus.net's concerned...
As with other people who've posted on here, I rely on flickr both personally and professionally to do a lot more than just store the odd snapshot and it's really poor that this is taking so long to rectify.
Without trying to sound too irritated, can anyone tell me (a) if this sort of thing merits compensation and (b) if not, why I should remain with plus.net? I've been pleased with the service up until now but am probably paying over the odds. This could be the straw that does for the camel's back... I appreciate that everyone's working hard on this but it has been a couple of weeks now - I'd be toast if our customers had an outage for this long... I'm getting desperate...

I always find posts such as that a little disingenuous in these situations, but if you're really looking for a reason to not leave PlusNet, just consider the fact that PlusNet are doing anything at all to try and resolve the problem - if you follow the various Flickr help threads already linked to in this thread, it's pretty clear PlusNet are more proactive than the other internet service providers who've been affected.
