http://community.plus.net...he-net-neutrality-debate/

The word "[removed]"* is apparently allowed to be posted on the Community blog page but is usually censored on here. Do people think that the same rules should apply to Plusnet as are applied to us.

Moderator's note by James_H :  Made a slight modification to your post Jelv - hope you don't mind.... ]

*Edit: Plusnet have now removed the offending word from the blog post so I have done the same here.

Funnily enough we've [Roger and I] just been discussing this with PN.

Be interesting to hear the community view on it though.

Off topic - an interesting way of getting round the swear filter - should it be reported to the mods  Grin
I just tried an even worse word and it does work
p.s I voted in favour

I've also voted in favour of jelv's poll. I certainly don't think that anyone should be able to post bad language on any forum that's in the public domain.

We've known about the bug for years, it was the same on the old phpbb board too.

You can get a mod which disables it, but there's never really been the need.

Also you could just type [Censored] if you wanted.

Sauce for the goose etc....

Did someone just modify the swear filter <note to self - should I report it to the mods for permitting bad language in retrospect>

Whilst PN are happy for it to be on the community site blog, there doesn't seem to be any reason to prevent its use here. After all, we only censor stuff here to keep things in line with the public face of PN.

(So yes, we did remove the word and some various misspellings from the censor)

If the public face of PN is a little potty mouthed, there's little point in us trying to be more angelic Wink

This refreshes my memory of Word 98 spell checker that would change bore-hole to brothel

I can't believe I am reading such a word here. Are you saying it's not in the list or that there is a workaround for any swear word (not that I'd need it) Shocked

Edit: It would appear that I have been living a misunderstanding all these years.
Apparently it's not a swear word, just a sadly abused Anglo Saxon word. Embarrassed

PS Voted yes

What I don't understand is why anyone would think posting “This net neutrality thing is a load of [censored]” would have diminished the impact of the blog post! Sad

I can change it if you think - As we were quoting another Industry player I felt it stood up (Just as the Guardian for example (or another news source) would have quoted something like that verbosely). I think in it's place it has impact, whereas in the forums I think a swear-fest should be avoided as it will almost certainly (in my view) lower the general level of debate and standard across the forum.

As I say though, unless anyone has any objections, I will go and update the blog now.

The community have spoken :-)

Considering that [Censored] is no longer a swear word here, I think you should leave well alone.
However I may have to declare a personal interest as when I was still working I used it quite frequently.

I think if the blog post is amended the mods will put the offending word back in to the filter.

Edit: The blog has been amended - I have edited my initial post.

I do not like bad language/swear words/obscene words [call it what you will] to be used in any situation - specially in books/newspapers so should not be allowed on web.
