There has still been no reply to my posts by any Plusnet staff about ways in which the Postini Quarantine interface could be improved for end users.  I find this very disappointing.

Despite the probelmatic issues with the Quarantine interface the actual filtering by Postini Quarantine is now very accurate subject having to initially whitelist various legitimate bulk mail senders (eg waitrose.com, thewinesociety.com etc) that Postini inexplicably classify as spammers.

However I have just received the below obvious Bank of America bank login details scam message and am very surprised indeed that Postini would not have caught this.  What is the email address to send emails to that get past Postini's Quarantine system?  Also what is the email address to forward emails on to that Postini are Quarantining from organisations that are not spammers but merely bulk emailers who do honour requests from receipients who do not want the emails to unsubscribe?

Isn't that email addres for those who use Plusnet's spam filtering functionality rather than those of us who rely directly on Postini Quarantine's spam filtering? Undecided

Maybe someone from Plusnet will clarify the various addresses.

I thought that it was the job of the senior technical guys like Bob Pullen to respond to issues raised in this thread?

Anyhow your comms guys still seem to be snowed under as still no one has responded to the issues that I raised.

The below spam email got past Postini Quarantine despite its normal reliability.

I suppose the argument will be that this was a tricky spam message to spot since it does not have any content trying to sell pirate software or viagra and its only purpose seems to be to clog up the world's email inboxes (since it did not appear to attach or include a trojan or virus). However the Subject and body text are simply a gobbledegook word so surely this would allow the fact that it was spam to be trapped?

If I try forwarding this to spam@postini.com I receive an auto responder message telling me I have to attach it as a zip file.  I am not sure that in Thunderbird 2 I even know how to do this, even though it would be straightforward in Outlook.  This is because Thunderbird does not let you save individual emails to the desktop or a folder despite all the numerous versions it has been through. Sad

Capvermell,

You raise a good point about sending spam notifications.  If I find a spam message in my webmail I simply click on the spam button.  If I find one in  Thunderbird I forward it to:  spam@spamtraining.plus.com although a few days ago someone said doing this was useless.

Could someone from Plusnet please explain the various ways of dealing with this problem?

artmo,

Many thanks for your support.

Another problem I have recently experienced with Postini Quarantine is using the Deliver button option for any mail that has been incorrectly Quarantined.

Previously this worked with no problems at all and the mail for which I selected Deliver arrived at my Plusnet pop inbox almost immediately.  However now I am finding that even though I choose Deliver the messages are not arriving in my Plusnet Pop inbox or therefore on Thunderbird, even though they are shown in the Delivered tab in my Postini Quarantine account.  This would appear to be another fault introduced by the recent Plusnet changes to the Postini Quarantine interface.  Or is it just another new fault introduced by Postini itself for Plusnet's customers who use its Quarantine service?

I would like to reiterate that the Deliver option in Postini Quarantine is still not working and messages are not arriving after using Deliver despite the Postini Quarantine box showing them in its Delivered tab.

This needs fixing urgently.

OK further tests reveal that the Deliver function in Postini Quarantine now refuses to deliver email from Blocked Addresses (proved by the fact that emails in Quarantine from non Blocked Addresses are still delivered by the Deliver button).  Previously this was not the case and emails from Blocked Addresses consigned to Quarantine as a result of being Blocked could still be delivered with the Deliver function in the Quarantine box.

Just because one blocks an email address does not necessarily mean that there will not be some emails from that address that one might want to Deliver.

Also removing the blocked address from the list of Blocked Addresses is not effective immediately, almost as though Postini only updates its list of Blocked Addresses or Approved Addresses for a mailbox once every few hours.

Can this please be looked in to,  I find the way in which the comms team now seems to have run for cover over all Postini Quarantine issues to be very frustrating.
