The jury's still out on what to call a collection of geeks, but in the meantime GeekUp, an open and independent community of tech-minded folk, has been lighting up pubs in the north with lively chat and geek wisdom. 

So far Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds have been hit by the buzz.  But what about Sheffield ... Geeks of the Steel City ... unite!?

The Three Tumms is a good idea. It's kinda big, has really nice Ale and we can nick the wi-fi from work

I've never heard of it.

And Wifi doesn't reach Smokers Corner (the official one) (Disclaimer: I was escorting the Mods although why the non-smoker had to I'll never know  ) never mind the Tuns

Not sure of suitable venues, but It'd be something I'd be interested in as I've been meaning to try and go to one of the other Geekups.

I'm sure Ian can sort out some sort of amplification ...
