Try visiting the site with IE with the option turned on to display ALL script errors.
As soon as I hit the page I get dialogs popping up about scripting errors.
Not a good first experience for visitors.

e.g.
Line 548, Object expected.
Line 41, Error: 'undefined' is null or not an object

On the Blogs page in Internet Explorer v6 with a Screen resolution of 800x600 Pixels, the Banner stretches the bottom of the page.

The issue with the banner is all the same issue. Unfortunately i am at a bit of a loss how to fix this, i do know what the issue is but IE6 handles it in such a strange way compared to other browsers (mainly because it has no proper understanding of CSS).

3% of the users of the community site have a resolution of 800x600 and 28% of visitors are using IE6 i would hazard a guess that less than 1% use that specific configuration of 800x600 with IE6. Due to that, this will not stop us from launching as planned.

Rest assured though we will look at trying to fix this issue ASAP.

Thanks

Jonny

Gary,

What physical size of monitor are you using (14", 15", 17"...)?

Edit: If it's not 17" try joining Freecycle Middlesborough - if it's anything like our area there will frequently be people giving away 17" monitors who are upgrading to flatscreen. That would allow you to change to 1024x768

jelv Thank you for the link.

I need to save up and buy a good quality flatscreen monitor, I don't have the room for a 17" monitor.   Sad

My monitor size is: 14"

Multiple 17" CRT Monitors
That monitor is to big for the space that I have for the monitor to go in!

So I need to save up and buy a good quality flatscreen monitor, I don't have the room for a 17" CRT monitor.    Sad

Is there any chance of replacing the smilies icons on the new version. The ones we currently have are pretty pathetic and difficult to see the expression being conveyed - the ones on PUG are much better (although I don't think it's essential all the extra non-standard ones on there are added).

For example instead of Wink we could have

People testing the new Community site should go and try making a post on the forums over there - they might find something missing that makes it a bit difficult!

A clue to where it's hiding.

Edit: Added screen dump

It really is very, very funny. You know, I suspect it is just possible that it could have gone live with it in that state. Can you imagine what would have happened? Not many would of figured out how to get round the problem.

At least James, Mand, Bob etc would have had a quiet day!
