The final stage of the Community Forum Moderator elections is now here.
We have 4 candidates who have said that they are willing to stand, and have submitted a short piece about why they should be a Community Forum Moderator. We are planning to fill 2 vacancies at this current time.
We ask you to read their mini statement, and make your choices according to
who you think would make a suitable moderator for these forums.
The period of voting will last for 14 days and will automatically lock out when the poll expires.
- Each user is allowed to vote for 2 candidates, which is the number of vacancies to be filled - there will be no option to edit/change your vote, and the number of votes for each candidate will only be revealed at the end of the voting period.
- If it is found that there evidence of "vote rigging" or collusion between users to distort the voting figures unfavourably, then all votes will be null and void, and the election will be re-run.
- Furthermore, by taking part in the voting process, each user acknowledges that they are fully paid up subscription members of their respective vISP - PlusNet, Force 9 and MetroNet and that they are entitled to vote in this election process
Here are the mini statements submitted by the candidates, in no order of preference.
Scott (McGurka)
I would like to stand for election, becuase I feel that I can bring many qualities to the team including a large knowledge of xDSL, computing and networking technologies to the site. Having worked for many large organisations including BT and Datasharp, I feel that I have learned a large amount about these technologies and have expanded my thinking and knowledge into new fields. Running a successful MAN in Dundee, I have had to learn a lot about customer care, the type of information, support and what it means to understand and provide good service to any customer.
Alex, AKA HuntHome
Having been a PlusNet customer for some years and a presence within the forums I've really enjoyed spending my time here, having managed to learn a lot from others. I would like to give more back, and I would be happy to be considered for a moderator position.
I’ve been vocal on issues at times, but I’ve always tried to be unbiased, fair and consider all points of view in my posts. I’m keen to help where I can and having some experience in running my own forums, I hope I can make a difference to the Community.
Peter (PJ) - AKA Lestones
As a PlusNet customer for over two years, a IT Professional, and a regular contributor to these forums, I have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to help other users and to learn myself from the incredible skillbase that forms the PlusNet family. These forums, and the community that surrounds them, are part of what makes PlusNet special, and I should be delighted to serve them in any way I can.
And last, but not least, Barry Zubel.
I'd like to volunteer for the position of moderator primarily so I can assist in maintaining a high quality environment for staff and customers.
I've previously been a moderator for two gaming forums, which taught me how to deal with problematic incidents in an even handed manner. I'm also organised and can communicate with people on all levels - a quality is very handy when dealing with a hugely diverse customer base.
Finally, I spend a lot of time on the forums - both giving advice and learning. Being a highly active participant helps to spread the moderating load efficiently!
Four very worthy candidates indeed, I'm sure everyone will agree, and I wish everyone luck with the elections.
The poll will automatically lock in 14 days, and the successful candidates will be announced shortly after.
