Sheffield Floods 25/06/07

Liam

Why is anybody who works for an ISP & has access to a broadband connection where they are, be it home, Devon or Timbuktu, even be contemplating driving into Sheffield at the moment?

I thought that's what the internet was for.   Smiley

I've just installed a network version of our software on a workgroup in Anglesey (more complicated than a proper client/server network would have been  Huh? ) & I haven't moved from Louth (which had the floods yesterday morning, about 4 hours before it hit Sheffield). Fortunately, I'm 150 yds up the road & about 20ft higher than the flood water reached.

Must be the coffee machine chat you miss.  Roll Eyes

P.S. Thanks to all at Plusnet for keeping the cyber wheels turning - I really didn't want to have to drive to Anglesey.

Might be better to get off the M1 at 29 and head through Chesterfield anyway. Make sure you take my number with you just in case (should be able to see it on Facebook)

The roundabout at the junction of the A61 and A617 was closed as I was leaving for work at lunch time, best to check that.

One thing that stands out despite most PlusNetters getting into work today is that there is literally no rush hour outside by the looks of it!  The roads are dead!

At one stage we were actually wondering if the road had been shut. Rush hour at normally 5-6 omn Tenter Street and it's dead!

Cycling into work this morning was like a Sunday at 8AM - Normally I have to fight cars all the way, but this morning I rode in the middle of the road...

No more rain today, so I guess it will be back to normal tomorrow, which is a shame!

Its not looking good at all round my area in whiston, just took a walk along bawtry road and their not letting any cars past what so ever.  Plus quite a few  houses round whiston has been evacuated due to this damn dam!

It dont look like its gonna go now, they seem to have to slowly undercontrol... although the weather this week is gonna be raining again according to weather forcast.

Ok all Mikeys pics finally in...

These are taken from the NHS building on Saville street. Approx 100 metres from 'the Don'.

My car is the blue fiesta in the middle of the car park.  I drove out of that car park at 2am!  I set off from Centertainment at 1:30 pm the day before. Mental!!
