A few random pictures taken from the Sheffield Traffic Cam network yesterday...

pics 5 and 6 are of a factory near meadowhall that suffered from an explosion caught alight - I'm not sure if that was caused by the flooding or occurred randomly..

Kind regards, Andrew Bunker

I'd rather risk killing the car trying to get to KFC

I cancelled going to see my sister near Hull 2 weeks ago because of flooding disrupting the train service. Looks like the same thing is going to happen this weekend too...

Cheesy

Well, I set off from work at 4:00pm yesterday and had just about made it to Midland train station no less than 2 hours later!! Took a further hour or so to actually get onto the M1 then it was plain sailing from there down the M18. Got back to Doncaster around 7:20pm  Angry

Stupidly enough, I had the misfortune of attempting to get to work this morning as well.

With the M1 closed between junction 32-35 this was a near impossible feat. Almost 3 and a half hours later I finally made it home, put the kettle on and reached for my trusty VPN fob!

Some videos of Meadowhall and stuff over on the Beeb's website.

Plenty of pictures here too.

Apparently the Sheffield station is completely closed.  The River Porter does run right under it, so I'm not surprised!

Indeed it is. There's nothing going through Doncaster either Sad

Hmm... do you guys think I'll be okay driving up from Devon this evening?  I'll be heading to West Street and normally come of the M1 junction 33.  I don't know how else to get there lol :-)

This is at the end of the road leading to wincobank and blackburn from blackburn roundabout. It's under about 3-4 feet of water as of last night. I have friends who had to climb their way out last night. Every road surrounding that area is blocked by police blockades and flooding.

Wow great pictures! Always impressive to see the full force of nature in action.

I'll be heading up to Sheffield later. Going to sell my latest invention. Its a Waterproof ADSL Router with optional inflatable Water Wings. Expecting it to be a big hit in Sheffield Wink

Seriously though, thanks to everyone for braving the weather to come into work today and keep everyone online.

Try too keep your feet dry!

I know penguins love water and all, but better not try it! Grin

Keep those penguins running!

South side of Sheffield that I drove through seems to be mainly OK, probably because it's up on the hills. Matlock's OK but Chesterfield is under a lot of water. A61 south and most of the town centre were gridlocked last night or flooded.
