Until this evening, when getting intermittent failures to load web pages. The browser displays an error page stating that the "Reason for failed connection:" is "Connecting to remote server now". Um...
On the Router's main page, there are two indicators, one for DSL Link - and this always says "UP". So as far as I can tell there havent been any disconnects here. My ADSL line is normally rock solid with no drops for weeks on end.
However, the "Internet Status" has shown briefly as "Not Connected". This got me wondering if the connection/authenticaion parameters are actually correct. I checked on Plusnet's site, and it doesnt offer much info:
[tt]The terms used for these settings can vary, depending on the make and model of your router. We've included the most common variants below.
Broadband Username/Login name username@plusdsl.net
Connection Type / Encapsulation PPPoA /PPP over ATM
Password The password you use to log in to this website
Virtual Path Identifier (VPI) 0
Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI) 38
Multiplexing method VC Based / VCMUX / VC-Multiplexing[/tt]
The Setup wizard chose PPPoE - changed it to PPPoA
EncapsulationMode: wizard choice: LLC - I changed this to VC-MUX
MTU range offered is 128-1492 though I entered 1500
Any idea what to choose for PPP Authentication? I have a choice of 'AUTO', 'PAP' or 'CHAP' ?
What the heck is "Service Category"?
Any hints/tips would be great - thanks!

I think everything has been OK until just after 12 today, when I was disconnected. By "disconnected", I dont mean the DSL link itself - the DSL uptime is 28.5 hours.
It looks more like I'm getting logged out of the plusdsl.net account - at least that's how it appears to the router.

Here is an example http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,137941.0.html
The work round seems to be revert to adsl1 which in your case (shortish line) would not be satisfactory as it limits speed to 8mb

(If it comes to it, I wonder if the AC68U could run using a separate external ADSL modem).
