wolfstuff gaming community have many plusnet customers as admins.
We already maintain a few of plusnets games servers and play enough different games to easily enable us to manage any unmaintained games servers that you currently have.

although keeping multiple servers of the same game active , especially if they have been dead for some time is pointless.

An effective way of managing would be to close down some of the multiple unmaintained servers and install a different game on them.

.. just an option

Turning off interleaving isn't in the connections setting section on a Business Broadband account.  Why is this?  Can I disable interleaving as I use this for business and gaming?
Well first and foremost everybody loves to have a low ping, that's a must, so an easier way of turning interleaving off would be a great help if that's possible.

Would you believe it! We're rolling this live in a few minutes...talk about efficiency  Grin

It can be accessed via Connection Settings in the Member Centre.

You can raise a ticket to get interleaving removed.

I believe that you only get an icon if we have specifically turned it on rather than BT having done so as default.

Thats the problem .. back on 512k i'd get a stable ping of 30-40 but now i'm on 8meg i get the same ping only less stable 30-50
often with larger spikes and in some games packet loss.
I was expecting around 15-20.
Thats testing the same game (TFC) on the same servers i used to play on.

IPstream to Max won't change the ping that much if at all only a better and shorter phone line.  I'm on the limit of 2mbit DSL because of my phoneline and get 40-60 ona  good day, if I was closer to my exchange and if line was better I might get a better ping.  Which is why I stayed on IPStream, 8mbit would be nice but download caps killed being able to Use 8mbit speeds, even with my current 1mbit I can easily hit or eceede the monthly limit.

Why have a porsche when your doing the school run daily.

low pings are a definite must for gamers, i have been fortunate way up in the north east of Scotland, and have been with PN since early 2004.

My ping times have been pretty good, average online gaming around 25 - 35ms for UT 2004, COD and BF series, and have been on EVE Online for a number of years...real-time skill training is a curse!!

I would like to see some sort of gamers package, so i can attempt to maybe host small COD server for friends when we're not on EVE or BF2142 -- tried before, but anymore than 4 players, and the ADSL uplink shafts you.  At least our EVE corp forums, web and TS are hosted elsewhere, so we can pick a choose what servers we join without losing comms.

it may help PN to appoint certain members/customers to help run these services, as some have lots of experience with configs and running of gaming servers and services such as TS.

Thats not really true.
I've had broadband since it came out and i'll just list speeds and pings.
56k ping 150
ISDN - 70ish
512k - 30-40
2meg 20-30
8 meg 30-50

Those are all the connections i've had in the past so i can honestly say speed does improve ping times except for 8meg which seems to have gone up.
Oh and i am getting the max speed possible on my 8meg.
CSR's and myself have quoted several times that distance is irrelevent and its down to your phoneline quality that dictates your line speed but thats just the speed of your line and as i'm getting 7meg as it is i would expect my ping to be lower than that of my previous 2meg line which it is not.
