Re: Anyone using Netgear DGND3700v2 or DGND4000?

Hi njay
Many thanks for that.
I'm using FW version DG834GT_V1.03.22_DGTeam_1014_eng_adsldrv023o.img
and have a copy of DG834GT_V1.03.22_DGTeam_1018_eng_adsldrv023o.img which looks like the one I need to try..
Does it look right to you?

Hi njay
I've opened a bottle of wine now so will give it a go tomorrow, and can always 'revert' if it doesn't work.
Really appreciate your help.
Many thanks

Re: Anyone using Netgear DGND3700v2 or DGND4000?

Hi njay (and anyone else who may be able to help)
Updated the FW and all went ok.
But, still getting the same problems as before.
Connection to 'internet' but NOT to Plusnet.
All lights are green but status hangs on 'acquiring network address'.
Modem 'error message' shows:-
Failed
LCP Down
CHAP Authentication Failed
Have re-entered name and password details several times and re-re-re-checked all settings.
In contrast, re-connected the Technicolor 582n and it was up and running in around 2mins and at a higher down bandwidth of over 21,000 kbps against the Netgear's just over 20,000 kbps.
Must be something obvious, but not obvious to me.
Won't be trying again today as I've used up all my daily swear word allowance but may try again soon, so any help/suggestions will be appreciated, ready for my next go..

I know that this might be a bit obvious, but sometimes it gets overlooked - you are entering the correct broadband username and password into it - the format is <username>@plusdsl.net and your broadband password - same as your member centre account password - not the modem/router password.

I also used the DG834GT until recently and can confirm that I had no issues. Unfortunately I've moved to Fibre broadband so the router is no longer in use.
It looks like a PN authentication issue, have you tried raising a ticket to check if the PN logs can shed any light on the issue?

Re: Anyone using Netgear DGND3700v2 or DGND4000?

I have setup several DG834GT gateways, using firmware "V1.03.22 - DGTeam Rev. 1018", with configurations pretty much as in Reply #14 and have always had excellent results.
I would advise for this device in the "WAN setup" menu that the "MTU size" is set to 1458,  as that value works particularly well and for some odd reason values above 1470-ish don't work too well IIRC.

Re: Anyone using Netgear DGND3700v2 or DGND4000?

You also might want to check here in the member's centre for the correct login name, under xDSL. Because if like me you're on a different PlusNet brand (I'm on Free-Online) then <username>@plusdsl.net is the wrong thing to use.
That's RPM to you!!

He's logging on a 582n ok, but that's certainly worth checking RPM.

Re: Anyone using Netgear DGND3700v2 or DGND4000?

The 582n is probably auto configuring using TR069 so I don't think that's evidence that the user name and password is being entered correctly.

Re: Anyone using Netgear DGND3700v2 or DGND4000?

I'm also using a DG834GT without any problems.
My firmware is quite old v1.02.16 rev. 0848
However I have read that the least buggy of all the releases is v1.03.23 rev. 1012 which I also have and I'm more than happy to email the zip if you wish?

Re: Anyone using Netgear DGND3700v2 or DGND4000?

Thank you all for replying.
It's probably something obvious that, for some unknown reason, I'm missing.
I have tried different Firmware and still get the same error messages.
Just to clarify, I used the disconnect option on the 582n then waited around ten minutes before setting up and connecting the Netgear.
Do I need to wait longer and/or just switch off the 582n?
The DG834GT isn't IPv6 ready, so would only be useful on a temporary basis and/or as a backup.
But, until I know why it won't connect (searching Google, I'm not the only one with this problem, but no solution found) I am not willing to take a chance on another Netgear e.g DGND3700 v2 or DGND4000 and haven't found an alternative (make/model) that appeals to me
Thanks again for your help.

Re: Anyone using Netgear DGND3700v2 or DGND4000?

Well, one last thing to try would be to use the NetGear's official firmware. If it still doesn't work on that then there must be a fault with the modem/router (assuming you've entered all of the settings correctly).
Oh, another thing, have you (after installing DGTeam firmware) done a 'factory default' reset and started again from scratch with the settings?
That's RPM to you!!
