Connection keeps dropping and cutting out and dropping completely

Hey,
trying to write this quick as  I can see it dropping again. Started last night were it dropped out for 10 mins or so and would just bring up the router access when using the internet. It seems worse today works on for 5 minutes then drops out for 15.
Appreciate it if you could have a look at it.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear you're having connection problems. It looks like it started to get much worse around midnight last night/this morning.

I've run a few tests that don't show an obvious cause for the issue so I'd raise a fault if this is still an issuee: http://faults.plus.net

It has been connected for 10 mins now without dropping but its painfully slow. 1.32mb on a speed test (21mb normally). Reported the fault .

Just to add I've reported a fault and an engineer is due Friday. Seems to be holding the connection now but the speed is 1mb! Just want to make sure this fault is at my end because it sounds similar to a lot of problems on this board at.m

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with the drops on your connection. Your speeds are likely to have dropped due the drops on your connection. Your speeds will drop to try and stabilise your connection.
Please ensure that you are connected into your Test Socket with an alternative microfilter. If you've done that, I'm sure the engineer will get that sorted out for you on Friday.

Ah ok that makes sense, at least i can use it to browse for the mean time. I have replaced the micro filter again and cable attachment so if you need to run any tests please do. Thanks,

Hey yet another update, sorry. After further inspection I have found what may be a(worse for wear) test socket in an upstairs cupboard. This is however not the socket the BT engineer tested when he came in to do the phone line a few weeks ago. It has a no input without removing the screws but having done this there is a docket so I've plugged the broadband in there for the moment. No Internet light at all so far though. Should this have been the socket I had looked at when the telephone line was checked? Thanks again Simon

Right having taken the upstairs socket out of the wall it's not actually weird in just seems to continue to the downstairs line straight through it.

OK, I'd still ask the engineer to take a look at that when they visit but it doesn't sound like an issue though.

Hey thanks for the reply.
Having taken the socket to pieces I've found it was indeed a fault with my internal wiring. (slight damp in the property when i moved in had short circuited the socket). Having drove past a BT engineer I asked him where I could purchase a new socket and he kindly gave me one for free! Could you cancel the engineer for me? Got a text with the appointment date (15th) but cant call back that number.

Sorry about that mix up there. The engineer is still scheduled to attend, we should have got this cancelled for you.
