Need extra cash for Christmas?

November 12th, 2008 22:00 by Chris Cotterill

You may have seen recently that we’ve updated some of the My Referrals pages on the website so that everything is easier to find and understand.

We’ve also just launched a special offer giving you £25 for every 2 people that join us on your recommendation in November. So, if someone has already joined us on your recommendation in November then you only need to find one more person and we’ll send you the money.

You’ll still get your regular monthly discounts too - for every month that each of your friends remain a customer.

We’ll make sure the cheque is in the post well before Christmas giving you time to grab a few last minute Christmas treats on us.

Find out more about the offer over in the Member Centre

End of Day - 18th November

November 18th, 2008 at 06:23 pm by Dave Tomlinson

Hello hello hello. Another day approaches the conclusion never to be seen again, that is unless we can invent time travel and come and visit ourselves from the future. But if we did visit ourselves wouldn’t we know about it? More…

Hmm, half way through November all ready, and the nights are drawing in. It’s dark already, but at least the city centre should be brighter… more on that later.

Reindeer Races

November 17th, 2008 at 04:00 pm by Andrew Clayton

ReindeerAs we’re approaching the festive season I’ve been offered some prize Community Site real estate to impart some truly exciting news on the plans that one of Santa’s performance-focused management elves has developed as a Christmas Incentive for the CSC here at Plusnet Towers.

We have it on good authority from Santa’s list of who’s been naughty and nice that there are going to be plenty of 802.11n wireless routers, dongles and shiny new MacBooks beautifully wrapped and nestling beneath Christmas trees this year. So we anticipate that we’ll be getting a few calls from stressed-out customers who’ll need a little bit of extra help (but remember if you can get online, our Support Pages offer a wealth of information!)

End of Day - 14th November

November 14th, 2008 at 08:09 pm by Dave Tomlinson

Ah, another week draws to a close. And although we don’t like the busy word round these parts it’s certainly been a busy week for me. I did manage to do items 1 and 6 from my to do list today and scrub item 3, and this is item number 5 so I’ll shortly be able to scratch that off. Unfortunately didn’t get round to item 10 which was finish writing the to do list. Maybe next week I’ll get that one licked. More…

Changes at the top

November 13th, 2008 at 05:28 pm by Peter Jackson

Anthony VollmerIt’s with some sadness that we have to report that Neil Laycock, our CEO has decided to hang up his Plusnet boots and, at the risk of mixing too many metaphors, pass on the baton to his successor.  Neil has decided that, solely for personal reasons, he’d like to move on, having done a sterling job here overseeing the business through the past two years.

Whilst it’s always sad to say goodbye to a friend, and a good friend he has been to us all here at Plusnet, it’s also exciting to look to the future and know that we’re in good hands.  I’m pleased to be able to tell you that Anthony Vollmer (pictured), currently General Manager of Voice Propositions in BT Retail’s consumer division, will take over the helm, as the new CEO of PlusNet from Monday, 17 November 2008. Plusnet loves forums, but why?

November 13th, 2008 at 04:49 pm by Chris Parr

Mug o\' Tea by Jack Brodus, flickrAs many of you know we have been involved in forum and Usenet newsgroup discussions for many years, since well before I started here at Plusnet. Having this form of communication with our customers and other interested people from around the ADSL world can have both benefits and drawbacks (we like to think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks). I’m going to go through a number of different areas in this blog ranging from why we monitor forums, to the roles of the moderators and how I keep on top of issues raised. More…

Last week I stumbled across a couple of forum posts on Think Broadband and our Community Site about an email that has recently been sent to Icesave customers from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

Now I must admit to not knowing much about this up until now so for the benefit of those in a similar position, here’s a bit of background…

Back in October the Internet bank Icesave (the UK branch of the Icelandic bank Landsbanki) was declared in default by the Financial Services Authority, leaving more than 300,000 savers waiting for compensation payouts. More…
