You’re probably getting used to these announcements by now but we’re pleased to announce that this morning we lit yet *another* 155Mbps segment of central capacity.
That’s hot on the heels of the one we lit three weeks ago, and the four we added throughout July and August.
This is the third segment of the current 622Mbps BT Central (there are four segments in total) and will be shared 2:1 between the Plusnet and Madasafish networks.

It’s that time again folks!
This morning we activated another 155Mbps segment of central capacity.
All of the data you send and receive from your broadband connection travels across these segments of central capacity so to put it in simpler terms, we’ve just increased the amount of bandwidth that’s available to you all.
Last year we published the distribution of our customers speeds in order to compare what our customers were starting to see on our 21CN network against what they previously had and also to see what speed distributions both 20CN and 21CN were giving. As we have over 800 customers on 21CN now we thought it would be useful to revisit the distribution of speeds as we have a much better sample size now. More…

Congratulations to Jamaica’s Usain Bolt who has just added the 200m Olympic gold to his collection with a new world record time of 19.3s.
Plusnet customers “tuned in” via the BBC’s iPlayer to see the victory; we saw an increase in traffic from iPlayer of around 250Mbps just before the start of the race going from just under 700Mbps to 934Mbps falling just short of yesterday’s high of 954Mbps of iPlayer traffic. More…
We’ve just noticed a big spike in iPlayer traffic. I think it’s fairly easy to conclude that the traffic is people watching the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.
We are currently seeing around 600Mbps of iPlayer traffic, with the Olympics stream being roughly 430kbps per customer when you deduct off the normal volume of iPlayer traffic around 1,500 of our customers are watching the Olympic’s via their broadband connections. More…
