What? More bandwidth!?

September 30th, 2009 at 15:08 by Bob Pullen

ERX-1440You’re probably getting used to these announcements by now but we’re pleased to announce that this morning we lit yet *another* 155Mbps segment of central capacity.

That’s hot on the heels of the one we lit three weeks ago, and the four we added throughout July and August.

This is the third segment of the current 622Mbps BT Central (there are four segments in total) and will be shared 2:1 between the Plusnet and Madasafish networks.

More bandwidth added by Plusnet.

A little bit slow off the mark but we actually added another 155Mb of central capacity last week. That’s in addition to the 4 we added over July and August.

The data you send and receive down your broadband connection travels across these segments of capacity, so in basic terms we’ve just increased the amount of bandwidth available to our customers. More…

We’ve got some more good news, there is even more bandwidth available for you all.

That’s right, we’ve lit another 155Mb of central capacity, that’s 4 segments lit within the last month.

The data you use on your broadband connection travels across these segments of capacity, so in basic terms we’ve just increased the amount of bandwidth available for all your internet needs.

To keep up with the ever growing demand for traffic we’ve got more bandwidth coming online.

This is the last 155Mb segment of our current 622Mb pipe is live and accepting customers.

Don’t worry – we’ve got another 622Mb pipe lined up and we’ll let you know when we’re due to start lighting capacity on this.

Nom nom nom

Yes, that’s right we’ve activated another 155Mbps segment of central capacity. This is hot on the heels of the last segment we lit under 2 weeks ago.

All the data you send and receive from your broadband connection travels across these segments of capacity so basically what we’re saying is that we’ve just increased the amount of bandwidth that’s available to you all.

It’s that time again folks!

This morning we activated another 155Mbps segment of central capacity.

All of the data you send and receive from your broadband connection travels across these segments of central capacity so to put it in simpler terms, we’ve just increased the amount of bandwidth that’s available to you all.

Plusnet adds more bandwidth

March 27th, 2009 at 11:11 by Chris Parr

We’re pleased to announce that we have activated another 155Mbps segment of central bandwidth. Customers connecting to the new segment will access the Internet through the gateway known as pcl-ag03.

We’ve activated this extra capacity in line with the current budget and our projected growth in customer numbers.

When new capacity is added to the network, it takes time for the network to balance and for a representative proportion of the customer base to connect to the new segment. In order to speed up this process and help balance the platform to give the most benefit to customers, it may be necessary for us to temporarily disconnect a number of customers from the network. Should we take the decision to do this we will announce further details as a planned maintenance notice otherwise it may take up to a week for the new segment to be balanced.

We frequently review our plans for the purchase of additional capacity and will continue to do this based on projected customer numbers.

Kind Regards,

Chris Parr
