Hey Everyone! It’s Friday, and one of those ultra special Fridays before a bank holiday. I’m hoping that the weather will sort itself out so I can go and climb Three Pebble Slab again, or something similar.

What are you lot up to this bank holiday? Let us know in the comments!

Plusnet adds yet another segment of bandwidth

August 28th, 2009 at 11:00 by Chris Parr

We’ve got some more good news, there is even more bandwidth available for you all.

That’s right, we’ve lit another 155Mb of central capacity, that’s 4 segments lit within the last month.

The data you use on your broadband connection travels across these segments of capacity, so in basic terms we’ve just increased the amount of bandwidth available for all your internet needs.

Even more bandwidth for you all!

August 25th, 2009 at 08:54 by Matt Taylor

To keep up with the ever growing demand for traffic we’ve got more bandwidth coming online.

This is the last 155Mb segment of our current 622Mb pipe is live and accepting customers.

Don’t worry – we’ve got another 622Mb pipe lined up and we’ll let you know when we’re due to start lighting capacity on this.

EOW - 14th August 2009

Plusnet End of Week, 14th August, 2009

Well, I’ve been a bad boy this week and, therefore, I’m having to do Community Service once again. In fairness, I don’t think I’ve written a blog here for nearly 6 months so I’m well overdue.

In a week where we saw some mighty clangers on the pitch and I incremented the number of my birthdays, we’ve been working pretty hard at the Plusnet Towers. So much so that I refuse to do all the work in this End of Week posting, and instead I’m going to make you work for your insights!

To kick off, I’ve used Google’s Translator to turn the first ramblings into another language. So you’ve firstly got to guess the language (hopefully not too hard) and then re-translate it using either Google Translator or your own GCSE education. First off it’s Kev from the COT.

More bandwidth for you all!

August 13th, 2009 at 09:52 by Chris Parr

Nom nom nom

Yes, that’s right we’ve activated another 155Mbps segment of central capacity. This is hot on the heels of the last segment we lit under 2 weeks ago.

All the data you send and receive from your broadband connection travels across these segments of capacity so basically what we’re saying is that we’ve just increased the amount of bandwidth that’s available to you all.

Router setup - the easy way.

August 6th, 2009 at 14:20 by Chris Parr

tr69_blog_image1Have you ever needed to set up a router for a friend or neighbour? Maybe you’re one of those people who find the whole prospect of configuring a new piece of equipment daunting? I’m happy to say that there’s now a solution to this problem. Over recent weeks we’ve been trialling routers which are easier to set up, all you need to do is plug them into your PC, the power socket, and the phone line and the router does all the rest for you.

Sounds too good to be true? Well it isn’t! From today it becomes a reality.
