Friday, July 3rd.

July 3rd, 2009 at 17:29 by James

Welcome readers!  I hope you’re not all too busy watching the tennis (as it appears most of our userbase are, contributing to more than 2Gbps of traffic) and have a moment to catch up on what we’ve been upto today.

We’ll start off with our weekly update from HR, curteousy of Barbara:

Yesterday and today, has been the final MDLP session on Building Effective Relationships…this has been an offsite event, where around 18 participants have been roaming the Macclesfield Forest, eating Paul’s sandwiches, and working together on difficult situations (including a mini bus driver with no sense of direction).
Meanwhile back at the ranch we have been sorting out arrangements for further external training courses, we’ve finalised our L&D (Learning & Development) plan, put together our monthly KPI (Key Performance Indicators) statistics, completed lot’s of internal recruitment activities including resourcing options for CSC and Consumer Sales; reviewed our induction checklists and exit questionnaires, briefed managers on the quarterly performance review process…and even conducted our own quarterly reviews (we are not exempt!)…phew…thanks goodness tomorrow is Saturday…enjoy your weekend folks.

Which takes us onto Mark in the Provisioning Team:

Hi, and welcome to the Prov EoD coming to you from a rainy Sheffield….
Yes, raining. The heatwave is over, well, for the moment.
Today we’ve had a few people on holiday, so this is going to be a short one:
Rob has been working in the XML and provisioning pool. He hurt his ankle playing football last night and has been limping all day.
Andy has been working in the house moves pool. He’s going to be decorating his new flat over the weekend.
I’ve been working in the ceases and migrations pool. I am also regretting my decision to wear shorts this morning.
Songs of the week are Pixie Lott with Mama Do and Ladyhawke with My Delirium.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Here’s Dave, with a quick Network update:

iPlayer, iPlayer, iPlayer, iPlayer, iPlayer, iPlayer and more iPlayer. Everyone’s watching the tennis, 1.95Gbps for Roger Federer beating Tommy Haas and currently peaking at 2.29Gbps (almost a third of our network capacity) for Murray v Roddick.

So that close management of the network is keeping me busy today but in top of that I have found some time to run a few reports… Have a great weekend everyone and if you want to watch the Wimbledon final.. /me points at the TV so he can have an easy weekend.

Finally we move onto Chris, writing on behalf of Comms.  Do I need to mention he had 4 shots of Expresso in his coffee this morning?  Well, I did too, but caffeine and Chris seem to be a scary mix:

Once upon a Friday there was a magical pixie. This magical pixie was called Carlos the comedy comms pixie of doom the 3rd. We’ll call him Carlos from now on, it’s just easier.
On this particular Friday Carlos was feeling mischievous, moreso than normal. It was this devilish streak in him that usually resulted in trouble.
I’m not actually sure where I’m going with this story, so I’ll stop rambling now and give you the EOD from comms.

Matt – Easy setup tasks and demo
Chris – As above
Bob – Being bob
James – Being southern

On that note, have a good weekend and we’ll see you on Monday.

If you want to know what happened to Carlos, he became extrememly wealthy and married Comms Horse.
The end.

That’s the end from me too.  Have a great weekend!
James
