Wednesday 18th February

February 18th, 2009 at 18:07 by Kelly Dorset

Hi! It’s Wednesday EOD time!

First up, Neil from Networks

It’s been fast and frantic up in Networks today with the Data Centre move taking centre stage once again, with a successful migration of Brightview mail being carried out as part of this. We’ve been keeping an eye on this since to make sure nothing goes wonky.

IT Support have been battling away with more work to ensure our guys down in South Africa can still connect to essential internal services once we’ve completed the Data Centre move, cleaning up our new Internal AntiVirus solution, and sorting out some desks and network ports for a few teams who are moving floors.

Normal tasks, problems and tickets aplenty have ensured we’ve all been working flat out!

Goodness knows where I found the time to write this.

Kevin from the CSC next:

Well after a horrible trip into work as the weather was very bad this morning it looked really bright in the office. With the launch of our new product range yesterday we were expecting a lot of calls and tickets asking for details. We were not let down either. The sales line was running red hot.

The top issues that have been raised today are as follows:

  1. Sales enquiries – Really happy about this and no surprise either.

  2. Fault updates.
  3. Provisioning updates regarding account activations.
  4. Email setup and email errors.
  5. Logging of new faults.

Looking out of the window currently makes me glad I don’t finish at 5pm as the traffic is worse than this morning

We are all looking forward to advising customers on the new range of products over the next few hours. Also looking forward to my 2 days off.

Today I’ve been spending quite a bit of time on down on the dev floor making the finishing touches to our business process documentation and being in meetings talking about improvements to our application debug applications. The rest of the department around me have mostly been fixing bugs and tweaking the code behind our latest product release, or getting on with their other projects.

Have a nice evening!

Kelly
