Crikey, today’s been a long and hectic day… so much so that I’d forgotten about the End of Day.
Today in Web Dev, Phil has been mostly working on the Account Change project, Duffy has been working on various administration tasks, I’ve been working on some problem fixes and the rest have been working on project work.
Upstairs in the CSC, Adheel tells us:
Hey readers, here’s the Top 5 from the CSC today:
1) Router Set-ups
Customers have been calling in for advice on setting their routers up mainly today. These are ether Thomson or DLINK routers from us, or third party routers such as Netgear or Belkin brands.2) Order Updates
Customer calling in with MAC keys or updated phone numbers and house move details, people wanting to ensure there broadband is activated Without any delay.3) Email Set-ups
Calls from customers wanting help with configuring their mail client.4) Fault Updates
Customers calling in for an update on their fault or advising if the problem continues after trying a change of hardware or set-up.5) New Faults
These calls are where a customer is reporting a issue for the first time. Sometimes resolved by the end of a call or if not a fault being raised so the faults team can run line tests.
Further upstairs, in Networks, Rick brings us the following:
Today, in the Network Operations department of Plusnet Towers, we have been mostly working on integrating outbound mail into our new IronPort anti-spam solution, fixing customers’ problems, banging our heads against Microsoft Windows and testing internal software fixes.
As if that wasn’t enough we’ve also been helping customers clean up after their systems were hacked, implementing new-fangled remote-access technology for internal use, preparing for up-coming database AND datacentre migrations, improving internal documentation, decommissioning legacy systems and of course monitoring our internal systems for problems.
So, same-old, same-old really. =o)
Well, it’s time to watch ‘The Bill’ so it’s goodnight from me.

Two days without a Comms EOD. Is everyone too busy drinking tea and bullying Bob to write one?
Here at Plusnet we're always trying to use clever open source things to make our lives easier. Sometimes we write our own and make other people's lives easier too!
