End of Day - 12th December

December 12th, 2008 at 19:11 by Dave Tomlinson

Less than 2 weeks until Christmas, all my shopping’s now done and presents all wrapped. Managed to survive a trip to Meadowhall last weekend, quite busy but bought everything I wanted. Good to have it all done as the weather’s not looking great this weekend, some places look like they’ll get snow.

Oh well, before we get there let’s see what’s been happening around Plusnet towers on this merry Friday. We start with Chris from the Comms Team:

Beep beep, coming through, comms team in action. MOVE IT BOYO. Hehe, you may sit now.

It’s been a little quiet on the comms desk today (well as quiet as it can be when Matt is around), with only myself and him in. Mand has been working from home and Bob claims he’s been doing his Christmas shopping (although I have no doubt he ended up in a pub).

My day seems to have been filled with meetings, get togethers and chats for the majority. Other than that I’ve been spotted around some forums and sticking my head into Excel sheets.

Matt’s also been meetingtastico whilst continuing with newslettery type goodness and devouring problems.

Mand’s been working from home so I’m not going to ask what she’s been up to, mainly because I’m not particularly interested.

I’ll leave you with the first line of the 12 days of Commsmas.

‘On the first day of Commsmas the Comms Team gave to me A big hot mug of tea.’

Next is Gem from HR:

Good-Friday the 12th-afternoon,

A week in HR goes a little like this.

Amanda had Monday off recovering from yet ANOTHER wedding, whilst Jen, Barbs and I kicked off what has been a very busy week.

We have all been managing, supporting or administering a number of employee relations issues.

Beep bEEp >>>> Lots of transport and accommodation bookings made by Jen. She’s also been preparing for the Plusnet Partnership Group meeting next week.

Amanda and I had a quick look at the Employee Opinion Survey results which was most interesting. Thanks to everyone who took the time to complete. We’ll be reviewing this in much more detail next week.

Work continues on the role profiles. 56% have now been signed off and the majority are work in progress, so were getting there.

Wednesday saw us all in a team meeting talking in great detail and at some pace. It was a very productive session identifying priorities for next month, next quarter and next year (I say, mopping my brow).

Your CIPHR records have been updated with Lealta card details by Jen, hope everyone’s enjoying the benefits.

And on that note, I hope everyone’s getting stuck into their Christmas shopping and feeling the festive spirit approaching fast.

“What would a reindeer do if she lost her tail? She’d go to a ‘re-tail’ shop for a new one!”

HahahhhaaaHAha…..no?

Thanks for that Gem, I think, and finally today is James from the Customer Services team:

Hi everyone,

My customer services team has had half of the team doing tech upskill training this morning, and then the other half have been doing tech upskill training this afternoon. For the guys who did the morning training it was their final session and I’m delighted to say they all passed so have been live on tech calls this afternoon, so if any of you spoke with Joe, James and Carl this afternoon you were probably one of their very first tech calls so I trust all went well for you.

Big thanks to Mike Trevor who is one of our quality and training agents for the great job he is doing with both groups on this project.

The rest of the team, who are remaining within Customer Services, and the tech guys have been really stepping upto the plate today to cover the reduced headcount on calls. As I write this (5.21pm) we have a 86% CAR across the whole CSC for the day which is a great effort. But we are striving to do even better.

I hope you all have a great weekend, and get all the Xmas shopping complete so everyone can start to relax next week. I know I will as I’m off on holiday. Hurray.

And that’s it for another week, better get posting this before my battery runs out. Have a great weekend everyone and see you next week…
