End of Day: 26th of November

November 26th, 2008 at 18:41 by Kelly Dorset

Hullo! I’m the editor again today. I’ve been in the office all day today, instead of being stuck at home waiting for plumbers. Apart from that, it’s been a similar day: VAT changes and role profiles!

What about the rest of Plusnet?

Chris proves he has the potential to be the most irritating member of the Comms Team

Bob once again has been working on IronPort, I think I’m going to stop putting him in the end of day or at least make something up so it doesn’t get too repetitive.

In other news Chris was beaten up by the rest of the comms team for making a poor joke, see above.

Matt and James have been tag-teaming on the VAT changes and all the comms work that needs doing for that. I’ve been blogging along with looking into some problems, I was also spotted in the forums earlier.

That’s all for now. Bye.

Oops, oh yeah. Linky Linky.

I warned you he was irritating…. Next up, Chris from the CSC, plus a bonus Top 10 provided by Ben!

Hello on the cold Wednesday afternoon.

Chris here from the Customer Services Team.

I hope everyone is getting ready for Christmas and looking forward to opening the first door on their advent calendar on Monday?

Today has been another busy and productive day in customer service.

We’ve have had our team meeting led by Carl with updates from Mike on Home Phone Billing, Matt from Comms and Carol the Customer Service Director (so we all had to be quiet).

I have been on tickets, scanning letters and driving performance via floor management, so it is nice for to me to sit down and have 5 minutes rest.

The rest of the troops have been on calls, dealing with different enquiries from general billing to router configuration.

That’s it from me.

CSC top 5:

  1. Router set ups
Consistent with most of this week, set up of new Thomson routers has been the number one cause behind calls coming into the Support Centre. No new issues have been reported, just the usual basic set ups with quite a few queries about wireless settings.
  2. New faults
Again it’s not out of the ordinary to see new fault reports coming high in our top 5. We seem to be getting a large number of speed faults reported but these are often easily identified as a dropping connection or other fault whereby a speed problem is just the symptom, not the cause.
  3. Username / password configuration
Different formats of username seem to be the main cause of these calls as people tend to leave the realm off their username when setting up routers, or need some help with the username format for mailboxes.
  4. Fault updates
The faults team workload isn’t too high at the moment but customers are always going to call us to chase updates on their open faults.
  5. Billing issues
There have been no major issues provoking billing calls, but plenty have been coming in. Customers mainly just need us to update their current details with new cards or take Direct Debit instructions.

Mark’s EOD debut from the Business Team

First post to EOD from the Business Team and my first direct contribution to EOD ever

A quick intro I suppose is in order. The Business team is Nick S, Tony D, Dave F, Ian W and me. We look after our Partner, Corporate and Reseller customers and drive products and services for our business customers.

Today we’ve been working on the long overdue business product refresh (no definites so don’t ask just yet)

We’ve been meeting existing clients and some potential new ones to boot, writing up customer proposals and closing some very sweet deals.

We’re a small team , backed up by James K and the fantastic BSC dudes ( does that sound like some random 50’s group?) and of course the rest of the business.

Watch out for some exiting news from us over the coming weeks and months.

Amy from Marketing next

Everyone on the team has been working on the upcoming price changes due to the reduction in VAT so its been very busy today!

Chris has also sent out a referral reminder email about the £25 offer that ends this Sunday (30th November) so get referring for a nice little Christmas bonus.

Catherine from QA

There’s just me and Paul left on the desk tonight, so I’ll ask us both what we’ve been doing.

Catherine, what have you been doing?
Some more stuff with our home phone products (we’re on the second stage of testing now so we’re very close to rolling live!) and enjoying a wide range of music, from Soulfly to Squirrel Nut Zippers (Wikipedia is your friend if you’re not familiar with either of these fine bands).

Paul, what have you been doing?
I’ve been working on our exciting new account change product and necking copious amounts of Vimto. (He has a bottle of Vimto concentrate *and* an empty fizzy Vimto pop can on his desk).

The rest of ‘em aren’t here, so I’ll say they’ve been browsing websites and listening to music all day

Scandal! She’ll get them in trouble! The last post today is another EOD Debut: Melise from Major Client Management

A very Unusual Day for Major Client Management…Head of…Melise Jones (MMJ to my pals at PNT)

Iwas interviewed on the Rony Robinson, BBC Radio Sheffield this afternoon. We spoke about my favourite subject…ME. A retrospective of the last 49.99 years of my life…and I was able to talk about how great it is to work with the Wizards of the Internet Industry at Plusnet. That’s a very easy subject for me! If you missed the broadcast this afternoon, you can listen to the pod cast (last 40 minutes the best bits – that’s my interview).

I’ll sign off for now! Hope to see you on the Community site very soon!

Melise

That’s your lot! I’ve got to deal with the pizza guy now. We’ve ordered out as we’ve got some guys working later tonight. Mmmm Pepperoni…
