End of Day: 12th November

End of Day: 12th November

My first EOD since returning from my holiday! I pestered a couple of departments to today make sure we had a few more entries this time. Thomas from the CSC Faults Team

Hello all Here is the end of day for the faults team today Richard began the day assigning the roles to the team for the day when he came in at 8am placing faults agents on where we most need the resources, Due to the time of year and the weather we are having, we are seeing more intermittent issues which has taken the majority of the teams resource. Towards the end of the day we had some systems issues preventing us from placing appointments which did us down a bit, but what measures we can take have been done to minimise the impact. Adam has been busy helping manage the teams and dealing with some of the I-plate trial (spending lots of overtime last night on this as well!) Overall the whole team has performed well beyond their assigned targets to make sure that we help as many as we can do.

Catherine from the QA Team

It's been a very interesting time for me lately, as I have been learning lots about WLR (Ed: Wholesale Line Rental, or your Home Phone in other words Cheesy) and how our mock services work. This has also meant a certain amount of poking around under the hood, as it were, and learning a bit about how to use MySQL for fun and profit. Every day's a school day 🙂 The rest of the team have been similarly occupied, with Paul doing his first overnight rollout last night for networks. Matt 2 has been doing some managerial type stuff and Matt 1's been on some development work on various widgets. Gavin has mostly been on holiday. Gary has been poking servers and wrestling with staging, which is what he seems to do a lot of these days, and Nigel has been working with one of our developers on yet another secret project. He definitely needs a black eyemask and some ninja clothes. See you tomorrow 🙂

Commsy Chris

Well after my last EOD I've decided to go for a small update today, no fairytales or comms horses here. Bob's grievance.txt file has continued to grow and I'm clear in the lead. However in return I've started my own file cataloguing the abuse I receive from him on a daily basis. Apart from continually typing into there today he's been carrying on his work on the 'Port trial (he insists I call it 'Port instead of IronPort, not sure why, must be a Donny thing). Mand has struggled to catch me on Bob's grievance list, still trailing me by a huge distance. Aside from 'salt hurling using a mini skateboard', she's been working on problems, tasked work and dev change controls. Matt's also nowhere near me on the grievance file, labouring in last place (come on Matt surely you can improve). He's been working on a newsletter for our MAAF customers and also replying to numerous questions from various areas of the business. I've been storming out in front on grievance.txt and looking good for my win, or P45, whichever comes first. Aside from that I've been in meetings for a fair portion of the day, at last count I'd been in around 3 hours of them. On top of that I've started on a blog which you'll see soon and continued compiling the latest customer satisfaction survey. That's all from me, all that remains is the link of the day

Last up, Lukasz from Development

It’s been a busy day around the development floor. I have been working all day on our Line Checker project which is right now on the testing platform, going shortly to our Live servers. Paul M and I have been cooperating with guys from the Web Team to help our Quality & Assurance team with it's testing. Seb has been preparing some great presentations and video tutorials about our version control system for other developers. Ben and Mike have been working on our new alpha integration environment. The other developers and BA's have been working on few other big projects to improve our portal and prodcuts That’s all for today! See you all next time!

-- Good night!
