It’s that time again for a look at what Plusnet has been up to today.
Iiiiiin One: Matt from CSC (Provisioning Team)
Everyone’s has been happy in the CSC today even though the weather is dull!
Top 5 Issues of the day
- General billing queries – customers calling to check invoices/make payments etc.
- Router configuration – Customers have called for assistance setting up hardware.
- Provisioning updates – Again there have been lots of calls to confirm the activation dates for their new services. Many people appear to find 7-10 days feels like a lifetime though they are pleased that we can generally get them online in a week.
- Email problems – Quite a general array of issues ranging from client configuration, to mailbox setup to confirming the correct login details for webmail. Which leads me on to….
- Username / password verification – There still appears to be a lot of confusion with the usernames and passwords for accounts. Every day customers call in unsure whether they need to include the realm on their username for everything or just the router config.
Main issues of the day on provisioning have been home phone related. Getting the ticket pools under control and back within a 24 hour time scale was the main concern and was achieved.
Overall a good productive day on the CSC floor.
Thanks for reading!
Iiiiiin Two: Chris from Comms
James has been hurling profanities in my direction when I refused to accept his verbal rendition of his work day. Other than that he’s been in forums and looking at ticket causes.
Bob’s been a problem. Oh sorry, Bob’s been looking at problems all day.
I’ve also been looking at problems, unlike Bob I’m not a problem myself. I’ve also been handling a few network change controls and popping in the forums briefly.Just in case you were confused about what day it was, here come Comms to set things straight.
See you tomorrow.
Iiiiiin Three: Josh from Networks
Networks:
Hail from networks!
I’d start by saying we’re busy, but that is getting a bit tired (as it is always the case) so I’ll lie and say we’ve all spent the day doing nothing
Anyway, I’ve been writing a huge pile of project documentation with no end in sight yet … if I’ve killed myself by the end of the week then you have your reason right there.
Everyone else has been working through tickets, problems and projects as normal, with the odd cup of tea to break up the day.
Josh
And Bully’s special prize: Paul from Dev
“Rain, rain, go away, come again another day…”
Greetings. Paul from Dev here.
It’s gloomy outside but we’re not letting that affect the mood here in the Development
department. The rains patter and keyboards clatter but there’s no time for chatter!I’m working on ADSL2 preparation and hardware updates. The guys on my pod are
working on billing and mail-related projects. Around the department there’s work being done
on the account change process, product refreshes, database system upgrades and general
problem fixing. We’ve also been making sound progress on the refresh of our internal processes and
procedures. The update to our coding guidelines is almost complete and proposals to enhance
our code reviews are taking shape.Until next time!

All done!
Woohoo someone who agrees with me about the 'busy' thing. Thanks Josh.
